**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hi crew and thanks for hanging around to find out what the waves were like in Bali today . My first surf check went down at 6.30am this morning, to find that wave height on the Outer Reefs had dropped off quite a bit from yesterday. All in all though there were still 1-3 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport left . The tide was heading down for another reef exposing 0.2mtr Low set for 7.30am. Wind direction was ranging between the ESE-SSE and off-shore between legian and Uluwatu . Middle Reef was the only surfable option on the Outer Reefs and there was already a few surfers out there makling the most of the head high waves. Way to shallow for Kuta Reef and Airports , but there woulda been a few waist to shoulder high waves around mid morning before the tide filled in with a 1.8mtr High around 1.30pm.
I decided on heading for Uluwatu and arrived on the scene at 9.00am to find waves screaming down the Racetrack in the 2-3ft+ range. There were only a handful of surfers in the water first up but as the tide bottomed out and started to run back in the numbers picked up to something like 30 surfers spread between the Main Peak and Racetrack sections . There were also another 10 riders sitting down at Temple ’s scoring some ok waves in the 2-3ft+ range. On the way back to Home Base I cruised past Padang Padang and Impossible’s , no waves breaking at Padang Padang but there were some 2-3ft lines peeling down the reef at Impossible’s.
Weather wise there was some cloud about early, but it was bloody hot down on the bukit at Uluwatu, the temperature woulda easily reached 33 degree’s by midday. Right now at 1.45pm there’s no cloud in sight, just a clear blue holiday type sky.
Now on a serious note ; I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc. Over the next few days I’m going to try and set up a page with more information on this project. But please if anyone would like to help me out with this noble cause don’t hesitate to send me an email via the “CONTACT” link at the bottom of this page, thanks.
Special Thanks to, Bryan & Trish Ryder, Rosemary Ryan, Team Panadol, Karina Pols, Ron Samuel, Gordon Black, Jesper Stockholm, Nick, The Ando Family, The Pluss Family, Glenny Farrow, Mervyn Lee for already offering support ! So come on folks we only need 30-40 of us to chip in and we can get a school hooked up with something we all pretty much take for granted, electricity. Our target needed is Rp10,000,000. that’s around AU$1,250.
Now if only these kind folk can forward their donations we can start to make this thing really happen. Thanks friends .
