Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands. Nov. 14th surf report . We were hoping for an increase in the swell today, but there was no sign of it out front this morning. We sent out two boats in case we wanted to split up, but we only split up as far as between Bankvaults and Nipusi. There was no one around so we had the whole area to ourselves and the winds were offshore. It was the same size as yesterday, a little overhead. We surfed for a few hours before a boat pulled up, then headed back for lunch. Some of the guys went back to Nipusi in the afternoon. It was a little bigger than in the morning and more consistent as well, so we are hoping for that swell to just be a little late and show up tomorrow.
Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands, Nov 13 surf report . The swell was looking smaller this morning. Winds were light out of the north. Our guys headed for Bankvaults, but there was a little funk on it from the west so they surfed Nipusi instead. There was no one out and the waves were a little overhead and the winds were offshore. We had a couple of guests arrive around mid morning. They are long time Mentawai surfers and return guests to the resort, Stew and Drew. Drew brought his beautiful girlfriend with him this time so he could extend his trip if a good swell popped and he wouldn’t get in trouble when he got back home! Good thinking. After they had a little breakfast we jumped in a boat and headed for Bankvaults as well, but the funk was still hanging around so we replaced our other guests, who were just getting out of the water, at Nipusi. It was a good warm up session, still overhead and glassy. We surfed for a couple of hours and then headed back. In the afternoon, just about everyone was content to relax, although a couple of the goofyfoots had a go at John Candy’s just to remember what is was like to go backside. Hoping for a little bump in the swell tomorrow.
