Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands, Nov 16th surf report . We took off early this morning hoping to see a new swell filling in. We hit Bankvaults first. It was a little disorganized and the winds were light out of the east, which is pretty much sideshore into the barrel, so we motored around the corner and took a look at Beng Beng. It was about shoulder high there and super clean, although a little inconsistent. But there was no one else around so we had a fun surf and headed back around lunchtime. In the afternoon, it was nice and glassy with almost no wind and the boys were headed for Nipusi, but they saw a couple of waves at Kandui so the made a detour and checked it out. It wasn’t that big, maybe chest to shoulder with the occasional head high set, but it was clean and had some shape so they hung out there for the afternoon. The goofyfoots really had a good time, and it was their last surf because they have to leave in the morning, so it was a special treat for them.
We were expecting a lot more out of that swell, so we are hoping it is just late and will show tomorrow.
Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands, Nov 15th surf report . It was a beautiful day today. Just a few puffy clouds around and light winds all day. Our first stop was Hideaways. We saw a few shoulder high waves come through and the conditions were perfect with light southeast winds, but we decided to check out Beng Beng. Conditions were nice there too, and the waves were just a bit bigger and more consistent. Surfed until it was time for lunch, then the boys headed right back out with a full stomach and surfed Beng Beng again until sundown. The goofy foots were stoked to be going left after so many days of rights! There is a new swell forecast to arrive sometime tomorrow. Super nice conditions forecast for the next few days as well. We’re hoping for something special in the upcoming days!
