AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** G’Day to all you Indo surfing maniacs tuning in for your daily fix of Bali surfing and weather info , plus anything else ya can get for free lol. Well I’m feeling much better today and that counts big time in the way I type this stuff up. Anyway I took my first look at the Ocean at 7.00am (I was backwards and forwards to the airport until 1.00am this morning picking up new arrivals : )) Wave height on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban had another slight boost in wave height, and was pushing through @ 3-5ft between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But with the wind coming outta the West @ 3-6knot on a rising tide.
So the boys here at Home Base made a quite unanimous decision to head back over and take a look at Sanur Reef . As ya’s can see in these latest photos I blasted wave height was peeling off in the 3-5ft range with the wind clean off-shore. There were already around 25-30 surfers in the water but the sets were coming through pretty consistently. The local boys as usual were scoring the lions share of the best waves and displaying some sick sick local knowledge tube riding skills. There were a few local ex-pats getting there share namely Jason Childs for one not afraid to trade his camera for a board. We stuck around until around 1.00pm just as the wind started to shift further around to the South and cross-shore it out. Ok like I said there was plenty of tube time getting clocked up at Sanur today, but the reef also claimed plenty of skin and a couple of snapped boards in the process, (hey Russell). Weather wise it’s been cloudy and overcast all day with a bitta drixxly rain from time to time. Temperature wise the mercury woulda still reached a pleasant 28-29 degree’s Celsius. Checking the synoptic charts around Indonesian waters and it looks like we are still gunna be under the influence of Tropical Cyclone (T.C.) Nicholas that’s been spinning off the North Western tip of Australia for the last 4-5 days. It also looks like we may see a return of some strong and gusty W-WSW winds upta 20knots for a few more days yet. Swell Forecast. 18th -23rd ; well we have had a good bump in SW swell today. This should continue to hold and maybe even increase in size a touch more over the next day or two. Then we should see another new system come into play and push wave height even bigger, before slowing tapering off. We also still have TC Nicholas active down underneath Indonesia, so we will have to keep an eye on that. Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that 1US$=Rp9,100 and 1AU$=Rp8,125.
