**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello hello my fine surfing friends of Bali and welcome to the baliwaves.com SUNDAY EDITION . Hmmm this is getting repetitive I know, but wave height here is still pretty much micro. I waited for the rain to stop this morning so I never got my first surf check of the Outer Reefs in till 6.45am.
Actually wave height may have just crept up a touch on yesterdays size and it may even have slightly shifted direction a touch. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left would now be breaking in the 1-1.5ft+ range . Wind direction has done a full 180 degree turn from yesterdays strong on-shore West South West and this morning finds it coming lightly outta the ESE-SSE @ 1-3knot and off-shore along the West Coast. Tide wise she’s on the run up for a solid 2.4mtr Full Moon High set for around 11.00am. The she’ll be dropping out for a 0.3mtr Low at 5.00pm.
Searching for a wave this morning ya might find a little something in the waist to head high range down at Uluwatu if you were keen. You could also try looking along the beach breaks of Kuta and Legian towards the top of the tide. There’d be other locations worth a look, but I’ll leave them for the crew that are already there surfing them.
Weather wise the rain started last night and kept fallen through till 6.450am this morning. Right now at 8.30am the sky is still clouded over and a big chance of more to come before the end of the day. Temperature wise we’ll be heading for a high of around 26-27 degree’s Celsius.
I also got a couple of sms’s from Indo surfing legend Peter McCabe, hold on I shouldn’t use that word “legend” I don’t think. That word seems to get thrown around to much these days, and is becoming to common. Peter McCabe is more like the 5 star General of Indonesian surfing I reckon. And I think so would just about every Balinese surfer over the age of 25 for that matter. Anyway McCabe was complaining why I hadn’t posted my daily Bali surf and weather report yet at 6.45am. Apparantly Peter tunes into the baliwaves.com everyday for his Bali medicine. If you want to know a little bit more about Peter McCabe take a look in our Indo Legends (5 star) page on the menue bar.
What I have managed to do soley for you guys is managed to load ya’s up 2 brand NEW VIDEO CLIPS, loaded over 100 NEW PHOTOS into the SURFING GALLERY , not too mention replied to over 50 emails (still sitting on another 50)
Our roving photographer Scott Thompson has also been blasting away with his SLR and continue’s to keep feeding our Readers Report page with high quality images and surf info from Australia’s North Coast . So make sure ya keep an eye on Scott’s stuff.
BTW, don’t forget that all this stuff is being done on a high priced TELEPHONE DIAL UP INTERNET CONNECTION…
Ok so have a good one and we hope to see ya’s out there in the line-up somewhere in Bali this year…
On the 18th I made it up to visit the DATAH PRIMARY SCHOOL . While I was there we discussed the proceedings for the repairs to the old existing wall and New Gate and entrance way into the school. The total cost of this was calculated at Rp13,270,000.00 (AU$1,350.00 give or take a dollar) including labour costs. I presented Rp11,500,000.00 to the school committee to get the ball rolling. And we still have enough left in the Kitty to complete the project. Work will start tomorrow the 20th of March and is estimated to be completed within a months time. Then we’ll start work on paving their assembly area, but one job at a time. So by my next visit to Datah Primary I’ll get you a full report and some photos of the progress. I also took up with me on yesterdays visit 100 new exercise books and a heap of pens, pencils and colouring pencils for the kids. NEXT VISIT TO THE SCHOOL WILL BE AROUND THE 28TH OF MARCH
Another thing I couldn’t help but notice while I was on the beach, was the increased amount of beach front damage that’s happened at the Pantai Restaurant / Ma Jolley and Bali Bintang Ramada Hotels . You can see the photos I took of the destruction in the KUTA CAM GALLERY . The place looks like a war zone….
