**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy crew and thanks for dropping by for the baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report live outta Bali . Well I’ll be stuffed, well actually my back is still rooted and I haven’t been able to even kick over my old motor bike and go down for a surf recon. But luckily for me and you our man Scott is fighting fit and did a run up to Canggu to see what and who he could find.
And by looking at these latest photos he del ivered he sure did find so waves and some who’s who of surfing in both the Indonesian and International professional scene. What I did manage to get done was type up our 5th Progress Report on our School project , namely Datah Primary School . Hopefully Troy will get that loaded up ASAP, and I’m sure he will.
Ok here’s what Scott has to say on surfing conditions up at Canggu today ; Today I was up at Canggu by 7:15am and there was already 40 guys and girls in the water. Conditions were pretty small at around 1-3ft but were very clean and glassy. There was a light wind up early that I thought was going to spoil the show but it held off pretty much till I left around 4 hours later. It turned into little bit of a pro show with local and international professional surfers mixing it up with the holiday and local grommies. It’s blue sky and warm weather today as it has been all week. A nice change from the two weeks straight of rain I had come from back home. Ok well it doesn’t look all that promising wave wise, maybe a little pulse over the next couple of days but it looks like similar condition for atleast a few more days. We wont be complaining though will we, as these conditions look pretty pleasant to me. I would say that the majority of the surfers here in Bali at the moment would be agreeing with me too. OK thats it from me today, till next time!
Weather wise : it’s been hot and sunny even hotter if like me you couldn’t get down to the beach…
Swell Prediction ; Ok I’ve been keeping my eye on the swell prediction charts from various sources. What should happen if they are on the ball is that tomorrow we should see a small spike in wave height and then once again slowly fading back down into the 2-3ft range at the better locations. Then some time in the next 4-5 days it’s looking way better with a solid looking swell system starting to hit our reef breaks. I’ll be keeping an eye on this transitting system and keep ya’s up ta date on it’s where abouts.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys up at the Kandui Surf Resort in the Mentawai islands of Sumatra have sent us through a big up-date on whats been happening around their surf riddled region of Indonesia. And it looks like they have been doing pretty good surf wis e. So you can find their info and photos in the Surf Report menue.
Quicksilver Open at Keramas ; ok the contest has been run and won so check out the full details on the ISC website.
Datah Primary School ; Well as I promised I made the day trip up to the school yesterday the 23rd for a look at the progress on their new wall and gate. I was stoked to see it 99% completed, they were just waiting for the carved stone feature to finish off the gate entry way. I’m going to try and get the new photos and progress report typed and edited up tonight for all our fantastic sponsors that have helped our school. The last main objective is to get the kids assembly and prayer area paved. The good news is that we still have around Rp10,000,000. funds still in the kitty and fingers crossed that should almost be enough to cover the 10mtr x 50mtr area to be paved.
For the surfer / fisherman out there, and isn’t there a little bit of fisherman in all of us ? Well you guys can take a look at the fishing report and photos from the last couple of trips out sport fishing here in Bali
