April 4 surf report
We figured this little swell forecast to come in today would be pretty small, but we were pleasantly surprised to see a little size today. We had a father/daughter group show up yesterday and they were up bright and early to surf some fun waves out at John Candy’s and some of the other guests got an early jump on 4 Bobs as well. Conditions could pretty much be described as dead wind and glass, so everywhere was looking good. One of our guests even surfed some shoulder high Rifles by himself and had a lot of fun.
A couple more went up to Last Resorts and surfed overhead waves to ourselves as well. There have been a few charter boats around lately, but they all seemed to have moved on as we didn’t see one charter boat anywhere all day. About mid morning we sent a boat to Bankvaults to see what was going on there. They were stoked to see overhead waves and only Wavepark’s canoe there with a mere 3 guests on it. They surfed until after lunchtime. In the afternoon we sent another boat over to Bankvaults. It looked like our swell had dropped to around head high and there was a little side shore, west wind, but it was still fun and there was nobody around so we had fun. We all had a cold Bintang on the way back and watched a great sunset. Probably small surf tomorrow, then things start looking up with a few swells lined up for us.
April 3rd surf report
It was looking perhaps a little smaller today, but not by much. Both boats went to Nipusi where it was still overhead and fun and only one boat was around. Some of the guys hung around and surfed 4 Bobs by themselves. It was still pushing head high on the sets and fun, as 4 Bobs always is! In the afternoon, everyone hung around the resort and surfed John Candy’s or went fishing again. (Got another Wahoo!) We had a father/daughter group arrive late afternoon, and they had time for a fun 4 Bobs session to themselves before dark. Looking at probably smaller surf for the next couple of days, but the period may increase and direction may get a little more west so I’m sure we will still find some fun surf.
April 2nd surf report
It was glassy and looking a bit bigger this morning out in front of the resort. Our first boat hit Nupisi. The south angle was treating it right. Conditions were good, and there were only a couple of guys in the water. Good session there. Our second boat headed for Burgerworld, hoping to get it as good as yesterday, but that never happens 2 days in a row! It was a little big for that spot and there was a lot of mushbugers coming through, but they still got some fun ones. Everyone was content to hang around the resort for the second half of the day. The conditions were good with light west to northwest winds and there was the occasional overhead wave rolling through. Best of all, there were no other surfers in sight so we surfed empty John Candy’s and 4 Bobs all afternoon. Not bad. Looking for a repeat of today swell wise tomorrow.
April 1 surf report
We said goodbye to our first set of guests for the season this morning and our new guests flew in almost at midday. After a quick lunch, our frothing, first day guests headed out to look for some surf. It was the tale of 2 boats. One went to Bankvaults and surfed empty waves. It was a couple of feet over head and the conditions were alright. It was better than anything you probably surfed today, but for around here it was average at best. Our other boat went to Burgerworld. It had several boats on it and plenty of guys in the water, but it was the best Burgerworld our surf guide or our returning guests had ever seen! For you non-believers out there, Burgerworld can get all time! Unfortunately, we didn’t bring the camera so we have no evidence, but our guide said he got barreled on every wave he took off on. Good first day for our new crew! Hoping for a little straight south swell to fill in tomorrow.
