**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Hello again my friends and like I mentioned earlier the sun is now out and the wind is coming outta the ESE-SE @ 4-8knot+. Scotto has made it back safely from the road trip to Canggu and these are his latest photos we have for ya’s this afternoon.
Here’s Scotto’s wrap on surfing conditions at Canggu today “Today I could hear the rain falling so I thought my plan to shoot photos was going to be put on hold but by 6am it was holding off. I made my way down to the beach around 6:30am for the morning surf check. I had been hoping to get down to Padang Padang but looking at the outer reefs, the swell showing there indicated that it would not really be big enough. So instead it was back home, pack the gear and I headed up to Canggu. The road was wet up untill the other side of Legian so it was slowly slowly on the slippery road. It probably was not the best decision heading up to Canggu, as I new that it was probably going to be maxing out. When I arrived on the scene there was next to nobody in the water. This being the case breakfast was on the agenda and a double serving of jaffles went down very nicely thankyou. Down the beach on the left there was a few crew but the usual spots were closing out on the bigger sets. Inbetween though and there was actually some pretty nice waves with either a barrel section or wackable wall. The crowd varied between 1 and 5 most of the morning. The standout of this session was Mr Jake Patterson who makes surfing look all to easy. There was a few spits of rain while I was on scene but nothing to drastic. All in all another magic surfing day in Bali . As I type up this report I can tell you all that the clouds and rain have cleared to reveal a perfect day. Till next time Scottoâ€
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Howdy folks and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves for your daily fix of Bali / Indo surf and weather info. That’s what the internet does hey, now wether it be surf info, surf charter or surf camp your straight in contact to the source. Saving time and money, it’s a beautiful thing.
Ok so my 6.30am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing a decent in height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today is going to be a 2.0mtr High @ 7.30am and then followed up with a 0.8mtr Low @ 1.30pm. Wind direction this morning, she’s blowing outta the NNE @ 1-3knot for starters but anytime from 8.30am onwards the ESE-SE Tradewind will kick in turning it off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu.
Kuta Reef was still looking pretty good with 2-4 footers peeling off 75yrds and will only get better when the wind turns to a true off-shore position. There were already 9 surfers in the water and the waves were pretty well non stop. Middle Reef was still holding 3-5ft (up to double head high) and will be at it’s best towards midday. Airport Left was slightly smaller that Kuta Reef with 2-3ft+ set waves and I’d have to guess that Airport Right would be producing some nice little waves in the head to head high plus range.
Canggu, Scotto is already intransit up to Canggu to get some photos for us before the Tradewind kicks in and blows it out. So I’ll get those loaded up for ya’s around lunch time. Well as I type Scotto has just sms’d through that Canggu is brea king in the head to head high plus range but “still a little washy, but may improve a little when the tide starts to run out, 4 surfers in the water @ 7.35am†Ok so check back later for some of Scotto’s high quality photos.
Weather wise around these parts we have had some heavy rain through the early hours and the sky is still 80% clouded over. But I don’t think we’ll be seeing nothing more than blue sky and sun shine by the time the party animals get outta bed. Meaning, when the Tradewind kicks in she should clear up pretty quickly.
Swell Forecast (16th May – 22nd May) Well the last week has produced some solid swell through out Ind onesia that’s for sure. From Sumbawa in the East to Sumatra to the West and Bali and G-Land in between. Next week we’ll still be doing plenty of surfing as well but in more moderate conditions. This current swell we still have showing today will continue to back off until our next little boost starts to appear around Sunday morning. Not quite as big as the last swell but it should still be producing some good waves on the Reefs through till Monday before starting to taper off. Then furth er out around Wednesday there’s another smaller system moving in on us that will be showing best on the more open south facing locations. So I hope your hear to enjoy it all !
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kan dui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price. Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
