**** MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks and welcome back for the baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report live from your favorite surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well my first surf recon of the Outer Reefs was looking pretty sad earlier this morning with a solid 2.5mtr High tide smothering the reefs, and wave height only showing in the 1-1ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . But as the tide started to empty off the reef, heading for a reef exposing 0.2mtr Low around 4pm . There was the odd little waist to chest high wave breaking on all three sections, Kuta Reef Middle Reef and Airport Lefts. There was also a few surfers out there on every section.
Wind direction was blowing straight off-shore coming outta the ESE-SE . Slowly at first in the 3-6knot range but increasing up into the 8-12 knot class by midday . Scotto made the effort for ya’s and cruised along the beach breaks of Kuta and Legian looking for some waves and these current photos are what he came up with.
Here’s what Scott had to say about surfing conditions at Padma St / Legian . “Knee high guys, that’s it for today’s outlook.. Yep still no evidence of the swell that is coming. I was up at Padma St taking these latest little gems for you lot. It was clean but as you can see it was knee high and only just getting there in my opinion as far as surfable conditions go. The weather is clearing though as I type, the early morning cloud cover is getting blown away by the trade winds kicking in.
There was probably around 30 people out in the water on this particular bank. There also was many more spread along the other little sandbanks that make up this stretch of beach. Ok guys I gotta run and get these photos up for you, then its off to the mechanic to sort out this little motorbike problem I mentioned yesterday. Till next time guys, Scottoâ€
Weather wise the morning sky had a fair bit of cloud cover and there was almost the threat of rain. But as the Tradewind kicked in the cloud disappeared and we were left with blue sky and sunshine. Temperature wise the mercury would be sitting around the 30 degree Celsius mark while the water temp is around the 22 degree Celsius mark.
Swell forecast ; after checking out as much information as I can from the swell prediction guys it looks like we are gunna be in more small waves again through Monday. Then sometime between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon we will score a new swell outta the SW and wave height should go back into the 4-6ft+ range on the open Southern facing locations. This system should provide waves through till Thursday before backing off into the 2-4ft class. Then sometime around Saturday another smaller system will come through and push wave height back into the 3-4ft+ range. So all in all it’s gunna be a good week of waves for the crew over here in Bali / Ind onesia .
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
And for those who haven’t heard about the terrible accident that happened up in the Mentawai islands last week. Aussie surfer Darren Longbottom while doing some tow in surfing suffered a serious neck injury and is currently in a Singapore hospital unable to be moved.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price . Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,850 while 1US$=Rp9,270
