****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Hey crew well there’s been a few nice little waves brea king on the Outer Reefs all day today. No sudden impact type jump in wave height but nice and steady all the same. Unfortunately the ESE-SE Tradewind also kept increasing in strength, pushing the 20knot class.
Anyway we are expecting more waves around the island of Bali for tomorrow and I’m planning on heading to one of my favourite locations to see what we can find for ya’s. In the mean time ckeck out Scotto’s photos from up along the beach breaks of Padma St in legian. Here’s what Scott had to say on conditions.
“The biggest ones at around 3ft were mostly shutting down but the ones in between were the go. It was basically an air show at Padma St, with a stiff wind and nice 2ft waves between sets the boys were having a ball.It was nice to actually see a turn when they did do one. Most of the time they were racing till the right section came along then boosted as hard as they could. Call me old school but nothing beats a turn done with some power in my opinion. But then maybe I’m just jeolous as I couldn’t do an air to save myself..
Ok well things are a little cloudy as I type this up, but the weather is warm, the waves a rolling in, and all is good on the beautiful island of Bali . Hope you guys enjoy todays info. Till next time. Scottâ€
****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning surfers and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com for your daily dose of Bali surf and weather information. Well and everything is shaping up for a good one around the beach and reefs with an expected increase in wave size.
My 6.45am surf check of the Outer Reefs was showing wave height to have jumped into the 2-4ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today is gunna be a 0.8mtr Low around 8.30am and then backed up by a 2.0mtr High @ 2.30pm. Wind direction was light and variable when I first hit the beach but since then the ESE Tradewind has kicked in blowing straight off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu @ 6-10knot.
My first impression of the waves this morning was %@#$ it’s still pretty small out there again. But as I watched a few set waves come through wave height was steadily getting bigger. And I’d say as the tide starts to run back in it may keep growing. The tide was still a bit low for Kuta Reef at the time, but Middle Reef had some nice shaped waves peeling off for the half a dozen surfers that wre out there. Airport Left also had some waist to head high plus set waves coming through a still empty line-up.
Down south on the bukit end of Bali I’d have to image there would be some little waves brea king at Bingin and Impossible’s. And of course Uluwatu would be pulling even more size on the Racetrack. As the tide turns the Main Peak and Temple se cti o ns will be the shot. Ya might even find a few sly waves at Balangan around the same time.
Weather wise today another cloudy start to the day but we can expect more blue sky and sunshine by midday. The mercury should be up there in the low 30’s on the Celsius scale while the water tempe rature is still ok at 20-21 degree’s Celsius.
Swell Forecast ; Well I’ve only had a quick glance at the charts so far today and it looks like there’s not going to be any change in wave height today, 1-3ft+ depending on location. But hopefully by Wednesday afternoon we should start to see a new swell starting to build that should generate some double over head surf for Thursday and Friday, once again depending on location. Smaller waves through next weekend but still something to ride. Then early next week it’s looking positive for another solid system to smack into the reefs around Bali and Ind onesia . So all in all it’s looking good for another surf filled week here in Bali . But all the same I’ll be keeping an eye on things and if there are any changes I’ll keep ya’s In the loop.
Drop me a line if your interested in getting on board a 9.5mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time !
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price. Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
