Lagundri Bay, Nias / Sumatra
well first off theres losmens lining the whole point, like 30 of them costing 20,000
to 150,000 a night. the further up the point you stay the more chance of getting
your stuff stolen but is just depends on the place really.
Also the best place to stay is at Yunis or Raffiels Losmen as they are the only
place that include all food with their daily rate of 150,000. They have the nicest
place on the point with Yuni having just built a big 2 storey concrete building with
brand new everything in it (mattresses, mozzie nets, toilets and showers). When you
stay at Yunis or Raffiels Losmen theres no hassles as they look after you with
everything and no locals are aloud to even step foot in there losmen unless they are
allowed. So theft is not an issue at all here. Every losmen has a front balcony of
some sort and can see the wave. Every day theres about 3-5 guys walking up and down
the point selling surf mags and little wooden carvings. Also theres a speed boat
that will take you to Asu on Hinako Island for 3,500,000rp that can take up to 6
people dor day trips or to stay there. Now theres internet for 30,000rp/hour under
Raffiels Losmen. Theres about 2-3 main local photographers that will either film or
take photos of you surfing. Today on the 29th June the King of the groms contest was
on for under 16’s and is still underway. Also to get here you’d want to travel by
plane from medan to Gunung Sitoli for about 600,000rp and then take a car ride to
sorake beach for 400,000rp. Its that easy……
Ok crew this info is from our friend Jai Gunn who is currently staying at Nias as I type, Slim
