****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Howdy crew and welcome back to your baliwaves.com for the daily run down on whats happening surf and weather wise here on the No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok and what it is out there this morning is a slight bump in wave size on the Outer Reefs. I went down for a peak around 7.30am and there were some waves breaking in the waist to chest high plus range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today was a .08mtr Low @ 9.30am and then we’ll have a 1.7mtr High filling in through mid afternoon. Once again the ESE-SE off-shore Tradewind kicked in early and currently gusting up to 14knot.
Kuta Reef There were a few smallies peeling along Kuta Reef earlier but still only in the waist high class but every now and then there was a slightly bigger freak set.
Middle Reef was producing some ok waves in the waist to head high range and once again with the tide at the lower end of the scale through the morning was the best pick of the Outer Reefs. There were by the look of it at least a dozen or more surfers out there at the time.
Airport Left was about the same size as Kuta Reef and should improve a touch more when the tide starts it’s run back in. The only problem with surfing on the Outer Reefs at the moment is strong off-shore wind putting some chop into the face of the waves.
Beach Breaks , you’ll be able to find a few ok little beachies to choose from later this afternoon around the top of the tide with the best to be found around the Kuta HalfWay to Padma St area’s.
Uluwatu , Dewa Made has taken the boys from Home Base for another run down to Uluwatu this morning and phoned through to say that wave height was also a touch bigger down there this morning. There was around 25 surfers scattered along the Racetrack section with wave height pushing head to head high plus on the set waves. The Racetrack is also much more protected from the wind being sheltered under the cliff.
Sorry but we don’t have any fresh photos for ya’s today but we will be taking the SLR and Video equipment out with us tomorrow and get ya’s some new eye candy. In the mean time make sure ya check out the 3 new video clips from Bingin we’ve loaded up for ya’s and stay tuned to the baliwaves through the coming weekend if you want to stay up to date with whats happening surf and weather wise here in Bali.
Weather wise out there today another cloudy start to the morning but it’s already just about cleared up now at 11.00am. Temperature wise we should hit a high of around 29-30 degree’s Celsius outta the shade while the water temp is wind chilled at 19 degree’s Celsius.
Swell Forecast (10th July – 16th July) Small waves for today the 10th at most locations around Bali with maybe some more size down on the southern end of the island. Hopefully tomorrow we should receive a small spike in wave height that will last into the weekend. Then we’ll see wave height tapering back off through the start of next week. Further out we may have a new system moving our way but we’ll have to keep our eye on the charts.
I’d just like to let everyone know about the “Coca-Cola for Bali coastal clean up day†being held at Legian beach 13th July 08 at 8.00am. For more information on this gath ering go to this link for the full run down. https://www.baliwaves.com/Content.aspx?Page=Stories&Section=Read&ID=43
Drop me a line if your interested in organizing your friends to get on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time ! These charters are only for private groups at this stage so organize your surfing buddies and get on board.
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room.
For the surfer / fisherman out there, and isn’t there a little bit of fisherman in all of us ? Well you guys can take a look at the fishing report and photos from the last couple of trips out sport fishing here in Bali
Check out the wotashot.com banner over in our banner advertising section. These guys offer a unique photo service enabling photographers to sell their photos on-line without any charge to the photographer.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Finally, I just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
