****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Howdy folks and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves.com for the Sunday Session. How ever our new expected swell has not turned up as yet this morning but we are still hoping to see some sign of her by later this afternoon.
My 7.30am surf check of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was not looking to hot for anyone who had just stepped off a plane. Wave height has taken a severe knocking over night and now only just showing in the 1-1ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left.
Surfing conditions how ever are absolutely perfect with a clean off-shore ESE wind blowing at 5-8knot. Off-shore between Kuta and Legian that is.
Tide wise we had a 2.2mtr High @ 10.00am and then we’ll be in for a 0.4mtr low later this afternoon. Full Moon rising today.
Looking for a wave today your gunna be hard pressed to find anything serious out there. But the best bet for a paddle would be down at Uluwatu (with very other man and his bemo driver) or you woulda be able to hunt up a little beach break down along the Kuta to Legian stretch of beach. And just a reminder to anyone who’s keen to sample the beach breaks the best time to find a decent wave is an hour or two either side of the high tide. Not much except closeouts on the low tide.
Weather wise we have a sunny Sunday for everyone who’s kicking it back on vacation and a nice down along the beach with an expected top temperature of around 33 degree’s outta the shade.
Photo Up-Date’s Dept ; well we’ve got new photos on both our Mentawai report pages and new photos on the G-land page, so take a look at what’s been happening in other parts of Indo while you’re here at the baliwaves.com.
Swell Forecast (10th – 16th) So the predictors are calling for wave height to be tapering off today through till Saturday. Then with the Full Moon set to rise on Sunday the 14th we will start to see a new swell generator producing some medium sized waves peaking on Monday the 15th. Then right behind her we have another system that will kick back in around the 17th. So it’s looking real good with plenty of waves and locations on offer over the coming week.
G-Land ; thanks to the G-land Surf Camp for sending us some new photos from G-land. And you can take a look at those on the G-Land page under the report section. You can also drop us an email if you want to cash in on the 10% discount offer at the G-Land surf camp
Mentawai Islands ; the crew from both the Kandui Surf Resort (NEW PHOTOS) and Macaroni’s (NEW PHOTOS) have sent us through some new reports and photos so if your interested in seeing whats been happening up in that region of Indonesia check out both those surf reports in our report section.
Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact†link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are AU$16.00 for a room with big double bed and AU$30.00 for a twin share room
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp7,450 – Rp7,500 depending on location. While the US$ is still pretty stable at Rp9,150.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$13.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$600.00 !!! Start organizing your crew now for the recommencement of these charters in March 08. Better still charter the boat privately with up to 10 of your friends for AU$6,000. all inclusive.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
