****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** G’Day crew and thanks for taking the time out to tune into the baliwaves for your daily dose of bali surfing and weather onfo.
Ok so it’s been a kinda hectic day for me and that’s why this report is just going on-line now at 4.15pm. I was actually down on the beach at 6.15am this morning for a look at what was happening on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. And pretty much right on time wave height has kicked up into the 3-4ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport left.
Wind direction was coming cleanly outta the ESE-SE and blowing straight off-shore between Kuta and Uluwatu at 5-10knot.
Tide wise the first of those was a 1.9mtr High @ 9.00am and then she ran out for a 0.5mtr Low around the 3.00pm mark.
Kuta Reef was breaking nicely and peeling off for a good 70yrds on this mornings high tide and by 7.00am there woulda been around 20 surfers out there enjoying the waves. Chest to head high plus but a bit of a wait for the bigger sets.
Middle Reef was a still a bit full with the tide but all the same there were some ok waves breaking in the head to well over head high range and conditions woulda kept improving while the tide was running out.
Airport Left was also producing some good looking waves in the 2-4ft range but as usual had plenty of traffic on it.
Uluwatu as ya’s can see in these current photos I took this morning (10.00am – 12.30pm) was the place to be with wave height pushing double over head on the set waves. The tide was starting to run out while I was on the scene so the focus was shifting from the Main Peak to the tube riddled Racetrack section. But I do have to admit there was some very bad surf etiquette going down with lots of blatant dropping in.
Impossible’s had plenty of 2-3ft+ lines bending down the long stretch of reef and there looked to be around 50 surfers spread through em. Bingin woulda been getting better and better as the tide dropped out, with perfect sized waves for that low tide location. Padang Padang was breaking but only in the 1-2ft+ class.
Weather wise it’s been a cracker of a day with nothing but blue sky and sunshine here on Bali’s West Coast. I’d have to image the temperature woulda peaked around the 32-33 degree Celsius mark. The water temperature is also fantastic sitting around the 23-24 degree Celsius mark.
Swell Forecast (21st – 27th) The swell that we currently have is expected to slowly taper off in size over this week and by Thursday back in the 2-4ft range depending on location. Then on Friday we should see a new medium sized swell appear on the reefs around Friday producing more waves through the weekend.
