****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Hi crew and welcome back to baliwaves.com for your dailly surf and weather report. And ok it’s been a tough week for the hard core surfer here on vacation, but for the determined surfer there has still been a few smallies to keep the stoke happening.
This morning I went down for the surf recon at 6.45AM and I’m sorry to say it’s another ground hog day on the Outer Reefs of Tuban. And if anything wave height has become even smaller, just 1ft of swell breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left.
Surfing conditions are still dry season perfect with the wind coming lightly out of the East @ 2-4knot blowing straight off-shore between Kuta and Uluwatu.
Tide wise the first will be a 0.8mtr Low @ 12.00noon and then we’ll have a 1.6mtr High @ 6.00PM
Looking for a wave today the best chance will be through the morning at places like Uluwatu and down along the beach breaks of Kute through to Legian. Further up the coast at Balian there should also be a few for the crew staying in that part of the island. Over on the East coast I’d be heading for Nusa Dua, Green Bowls, Nyang Nyangs or further up the coast at Keramas.
Me I’ve taken advantage of the small waves and finally made the move down to the New Home Base. And I’m pretty sure you all know how much fun it is to move 15 yrs worth of accumulated possessions..But it’s all good now, at last ! And I’m sure you all know what a knee to waist high plus wave looks like so I won’t be risking life or limb on the motor bike to go and shoot some for ya’s.
Like I mentioned yesterday there is always plenty of other things to do here on the holiday island of Bali and days like today are perfect for doing them.
Weather wise today we had some heavy rain fall through the early AM. Now at 10.00Am the sky is starting to turn from grey to blue and we are going to be in for more hot and humid conditions by midday.
Swell Forecast 23rd – 29th , Hmmm, well nothing to look forward to through today and tomorrow at least. The charts are calling in a new swell to start showing on the reefs sometime late on Saturday though. So come Sunday we should have waves at just about all locations around Bali pushing into the double head high class at the more open beaches. This should continue into Monday before backing off again Tuesday. Then hopefully we’ll see another small system move through and perk up the surfing spirits on Wednesday / Thursday next week.
Photo Up-Date , The lads from the Macaroni Surf Resort have sent us in some new photos and news from there part of Indonesia. New surf reports from the Kandui Sur Resort and I’ll be checking in with the G-Land Surf Camp crew later this afternoon to see if they have anything for us.
I also just wanna refresh ya’s about what baliwaves.com is all about. We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is.

We also have a NEW Home Base guest house close by to Airport Left and the other breaks of the Outer Reefs, 5 min walk. This place is more private and spacious with big air conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, tv and plenty of off street parking all enclosed in Balinese style. The rooms are US$15.00 for a room with big double bed and US$28.00 for a twin share room
Bali Fishing New’s ; I finally got around to loading up some of the photos I’ve taken of some of the fish we’ve caught over the last 4 weeks. Plus a bit of a run down on what we’ve been up to. You can find that on our Fishing Report Page in the Reports Menue.
Exchange Rates ; Well the way the Australian dollar has been crashing the last couple of weeks it’s been hard to say what it’s doing today but it would be still ranging between Rp6,750 – Rp6,800 depending on location. While the US$=Rp9,800 give or take 50 Rupiah.
And just a reminder that we still have some original baliwaves.com T-Shirts (AU$15.00) and FREE stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Don’t forget if any of you lot want to grab some photos or video footage surfing here in Bali and we can easily arrange it for ya. Or if ya check out the Wotashot.com banner you might even find a photo of you on your last trip to Bali.
If it’s somewhere a little more private you’r looking for take a look at the private bungalow for rent we have in our Business Directory and drop the owner Michael Owen an email. Michael is one of the old school surfers who rubs shoulders with the likes of Gerry Lopez and Peter McCabe just to name a couple of Indo Legends.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI , see ya’s here in 2008
