AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE
Hi folks and welcome back to your baliwaves.com for the run down on todays surfing and weather conditions here on the holiday friendly island of Bali.
First up sorry about the “no-show” with the new design for baliwaves.com but last minute technical stuff has pushed us back a couple more days, but man we are so close.
This morning I didn’t get a chance to do the daily surf recon of the Outer Reefs as the boys and I from here at Home Base were on the road for Balian at 4.40Am. I knew with the small conditions here in South Bali the best bet to find some decent un-crowded waves we would have to put in some miles on the road.
Arriving at our destination just after dawn we were looking at clean 2-3ft+ left and rights peeling off with even an off-shore Northerly wind. Even better there were still no surfers in the water. So after a very quick cup of coffee from “Ayu’s Warung” we were in our boardies and paddling out. There were some nice left handers peeling off straight out the front of the river mouth but we opted for the hollower right hander a couple of hundred meter’s down the beach. By the time we finished our first session the crowd would have been around 20+ surfers. But by the end of the second session the number would have been back down around 10. We hit the road back to Home Base after lunch and there were still clean waves breaking, but I didn’t want to risk another surf knowing I had to be on the ball with the crazy traffic on the road.
Arriving back in Tuban I bumped into a local friend who said he surfed down at Uluwatu with solid crowds and wave height in the 2-2ft+ range. So all in all we did pretty good up the coast.
Tide wise today the first of our tides was a 1.8mtr High @ 10.00Am then a Low of 0.8mtr’s @ 4.00Pm
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI, see ya’s here in 2009
