Hi crew and welcome back to your baliwaves for the complete run down on whats been happening surf and weather wise here on the No.1 surfing holiday island of Bali.
Well I tell ya’s I’ve had just about all the Serangan I could take for this current wet season. So as ya’s can see in these latest photos to come out of Bali I said (to myself) “what the hell, I’m going down to Uluwatu today”. Enough is enough I thought. And that was after I had taken a surf recon of the Outer Reefs @ 7.00Am to find wave height in the 1-1ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. With the wind coming out of the North @ 4-8knot.
On arrival at Uluwatu the car park area was completely empty of cars and motor bikes with board racks, which wasn’t a good sign. My first glimpse of the surf was to see wave height in the 1-2ft range and the wind direction now switched to the West @ 2-5knot. Not a single surfer in the water. But I decided on going down to my local warung and having a cup of coffee and wait. Like I said enough is enough, and I knew sooner or later someone would show up.
After about half an hour later two surfers paddled out but surfing conditions were still pretty bad, but the tide was on the way in so I kept on hoping and waiting. By 10.30Am there was now 20 surfers in the water scattered between the Main Peak and the Racetrack section and surfing conditions were step by step getting better, with wave height now pushing the 2-4ft. So I hung out until 11.30 before heading back to Home Base. By the time I pulled up in our car park the wind had swung fully to the E-ESE and now it’s blowing straight off-shore between Kuta and Uluwatu.
So what started out as an average – below average kinda surf day has turned out to be a bloody beauty. And I reckon the crew down at Uluwatu would be pretty stoked to say the least.
Weather wise its been a mainly hot and sunny day except for the time when I had my 1000mm lens turned on. LOL.
Ok then my Bali surfer friends enjoy the rest of your weekend and remember to stay tuned right here anytime you need a taste of Bali.
Swell Forecast; looking at the charts available for this region and they are calling for wave height to continue dropping through out today and into tomorrow. But then hopefully sometime late Sunday they are showing a a new small swell to start showing holding through Monday and starting to back off again through Tuesday.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Tuban you’ll find that 1AU$=Rp7,600 and 1US$=Rp11,850 give or take 100Rupiah depending on vender.
Best Regards from the No.1 surfing holiday destination that’s got it all, BALI, see ya’s here in 2009
