****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Hello crew and welcome back to the baliwaves.com for another look at whats happening surf and weather wise here on the happy little holiday island of Bali.
Firstly I have some bad news for the Balinese surfing community with the passing away of a very well known identity. On the 26th of March (Hari Raya Nyepi) Mr Kim “Fly” Bradley passed away. Although I only knew Kim to say G’Day to, everytime I did see him about the place he was always smiling. Kim will be missed by family and friends but will always be remembered for his pioneering role in surfing in Bali.
Ground hog day, my 7.00am surf check of the Outer Reefs here in the sleepy little suburb of Bali was showing wave height to be even smaller than what it was yesterday’s 1-1ft+. I suppose it was still showing in that 1ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left but only because the tide was pretty much on the bottom of the low. As it rolls starts to roll back in for 2.5mtr High (1.00pm) it’s going to be flatter than a pancake.
Surfing conditions were clean and smooth with a very light Easterly off-shore wind showing in the 2-4knot range.
Looking for a wave today your going to be hard pressed. Uluwatu will still have a few waves breaking down there but you can bet every man and his mini mal are going to be there as well. Beach breaks, well they should be good for a swim with wave height down along the Kuta to Legian stretch in the knee high range.
Weather wise it’s just another perfect day coming on here in Bali. Blue sky, sunshine and an expected maximum temperature of 34 degree’s. The water temp ain’t bad either at 23 degree’s celsius.
Swell Forecast; The charts are now starting to show us some hope. It looks like sometime tomorrow afternoon we will see a small spike in wave height carrying through till Thursday. Friday also shows promise for a little bit more swell to run through the weekend and then more smallish conditions for the start of next week.
Ok freinds I think it’s time to bust out the snorkels, masks, rods and reels. But these flat spells are also a good time to get out there and soak up some of the Balinese Culture at the many diferent attractions all over the wonder filled island of Bali.
See ya’s tomorrow
Slim
