****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Good morning surfers and another big thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com for todays run down on surfing and weather conditions here on the happy little holiday island of Bali.
First of all I better talk ya’s through Padang Padang yesterday. As I mentioned we were down there shooting video footage but wave height wasn’t bigger as predicted it had infact backed off down into the 5-6ft range compared to Tuesdays 6-8ft. But I still ended up braving the sun and the cliff side goat track to shoot 16 minutes of DV. The best of which I have compressed into a 3 minute clip for your enjoyment, so check it out.
This mornings surf check of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height to be still holding in the 3-5ft range with the very occassional bigger set wave hitting Middle Reef. Surfing conditions have improved since 7.00am when the wind was still blowing cross / on-shore out of the WNW, now the ESE-SE Tradewind is blowing clean off-shore from Kuta to Uluwatu @ 7-10knot+.
Kuta Reef is once again heavily populated as it always is when there’s some swell around. But there are some nice waves peeling off for a good 100yrds in the 3-4ft+ class. Middle Reef was a bit lumpy with the morning High tide but getting plenty of swell with wave height in the over head to double head high plus sector. Airport Left wasn’t handling the swell direction very well but there were still a few surfers out there with wave height also in the 3-4ft+ range. I’d say there would have also been a few nice ones breaking on Airport Right before the Tradewind fully kicks in.
The news from down at Uluwatu is that wave height is hitting the Main Peak and Temple sections in the 5-6ft+ range but surfing conditions were still a bit lumpy down there. At 9.00am there were only 10 surfers in the water.
Tidal info for the 18th is calling for a 2.1mtr High @ 6.00am and then running out for a 0.8mtr Low around 12.30pm.
Weather wise here in the Tuban / Kuta part of he island we have more blue sky and sunshine heading for a top temperature of around 30 degree’s along the beach. Much hotter where there’s less wind.
Swell Forecast; The charts ar calling for wave height to remain in the 4-6ft+ range, depending on location through till next Wednesday. Then will be dropping back into the 2-4ft range through Thursday and Friday. Further out there is another solid swell coming up the Indian Ocean out of the SW that should start to show on Saturday / Sunday. Waves galore as usual here in Bali.
Ok that’s about me for now, but check out the new photos (surfing and bodyboarding) and video clip from Padang Padang yesterday. Scotto was shooting some water shots with his fish eye lens this morning at Kuta Reef, so hopefully he’ll have some material for us to look at after lunch.
Have a good one and make sure you stick it out with the one and only original Bali surf report website.
Thanks
Slim
