****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE****
Hello surfers and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com for todays news on surfing and weather conditions here on your favourite surfing holiday destination of Bali. And the good news is that today see’s the swell just starting to show, as predicted on our swell forecast.
This mornings surf check on the Outer reefs was showing a small but welcomed increase in wave height between Kuta reef and Airport left. Still a bit of a wait between set waves but Kuta Reef had some quality shaped little waves peeling down the reef in the waist to chest high plus range. The tide was starting to affect Middle Reef when I was on the beach but there were clean waves up to head high. Airport left didn’t seem to be picking up as much size as Kuta or Middle Reef only showing in the waist to waist high plus class. There were plenty of thankful surfers out on all of the main sections of the Outer reefs and another handfull or two scattered inbetween as well. I’d say Uluwatu would be breaking nicely today and hopefully our friend Hendra and his photographic team will be delivering us some new photos later this evening. I’m pretty sure wave height should continue to build through the night and into tomorrow so everything is back on track surf wise here in Bali.
Surfing conditions are very clean and tidy with the off-shore ESE-SE Tradewind fanning the waves betweem Kuta and Uluwatu, gusting up to 10knots+.
Tidal info for today says that we had a 2.4mtr High @ 11.00am and then she’ll be draing off the reef for a 0.1mtr Low around the 5.00pm mark.
Weather wise there’s nothing but blue sky and sunshine for the lucky ones already here in Bali, heading for a maximum temperature of around 31 degree’s Celsius along the beach.
Swell Forecast; This new system is really only going to get us through till Friday with waves up to 4-6ft, head high plus to double head high plus depending on location. Then on Saturday backing off again. But then again on Sunday next week it looks like we’ll be in for another solid boost with a much larger system moving in on us. Unfortunately this last system has already been down graded but still should be producing some solid waves. Starting to back off through Monday and continuing to drop through Tuesday. Small waves on Wednesday before we start to see another smaller swell fill back in around Thursday.
G-land; Ok the 10% discount for the early bookings into the G-Land Surf Camp has finished but I’ve spoken with the boss and he’s still prepared to give anyone who mentions baliwaves.com a 5% discount on standard, twin share and fan bungalows and a 10% discount on their air conditioned bungalows. Just mention baliwaves.com at their office and you’ll get money back in your pocket.
Traffic Up-date, At last we can give the all clear on the traffic scene and it’s almost getting back to being just kaotic and normal.
Here’s a few tips for any new visitors, 1/ don’t change your dollars to Rupiah at home, you’ll get a much better rate over here in Bali. 2/ If you need to change dollars at the airport when you arrive only change enough to get you to your hotel. The airport also has lower rates than on the street. 3/ Changing dollars with the money exchanging counters on the streets always use the vendors that display a “no commission fee” sign.
Photo up-Date; Ray from the Kandui Surf Resort up in the Mentawai Islands has sent us through another batch of sick photos and report to go with em. So I’ll try and have that on-line for ya’s within the hour. You’ll find it on their Kandui Surf Report page.
Ok crew have a good one and stay tuned to the one and only original Bali surf report (since ’99)
Best Regards from Bali
