****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Hi crew and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves.com for todays news on surfing and weather conditions here on the Holiday island of Bali. Sorry folks but seeing as though yesterdays waves were pretty ordinary for usual Bali standards we won’t have any new photos for ya’s until later this evening.
But the good news is that this mornings surf check on the Outer reefs here in Tuban was showing a solid increase in wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport left. I was on the beach around 7.00AM and even though the tide was still running out wave height was pulsing through head to double head high waves. Middle Reef was where the action was and there looked to be at least half a dozen surfers already on it. Kuta Reef will be delivering some long rides as the tide starts to fill back in through the later stage of the morning.
Surfing conditions at the time I was on the beach were reasonably still clean and glassy with the wind coming lightly out of the WNW @ 1-3knot. But there’s a big chance it will swing further around to the WSW and increase in strength through out the day.
Looking for a wave today, well there’s going to be swell at just about every location around Bali. Probably a little too much for some and just the right amount at others. Like I mentioned the wind and tide will be the main factors.
Tidal info for today is calling for a 0.3mtr Low @ 8.00AM and then filling back in for a 1.8mtr High around 2.00PM.
Weather wise we had a beautiful blue sky to start off the day and there may be some patches of non rain threatening cloud move across later in the day. Heading for a hot and humid top temperature of around 33 degree’s Celsius.
Sms surf report from the G-land Surf Camp was saying that wave height had also jumped up into the solid double head high range (8.00AM). Just like here in Bali there was a fair amount of Westerly direction in the swell so Kongs and the top end of Money Tree’s were getting the most swell. 4 surfers in the water at Kongs at the time of this report.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta (Pete) you’ll find that; — 1AU$=Rp8,350 — 1US$=Rp9,600 —
Swell Forecast; What the forecasters are predicting is for wave height to slowly back off through Wednesday and Thursday. Sometime on Friday we will see the start of a new swell that will peak on Saturday in the 17ft (face) range. Holding through Sunday before slowly backing off on Monday / Tuesday.
If it’s clean safe and friendly accommodation here in Tuban only 300mtrs back from the Outer Reefs, including A/C, hot water, refridgerator & TV for US$15.00 per night (single) or US$18.00 for a couple and US$25.00 twin share. Then drop me an email but usually we do need a few weeks notice.
G-Land we are offering you a 5% discount on all standard packages and 10% on air conditioned packages at the G-Land Surf Camp. And from all report’s I’ve heard of late, right now is an ideal time to get over there and score some un-crowded waves
We are also now sending out brief random surf reports and ravings through Twitter mobile phone service so sign up today !
Ok so now ya’s now whats going down here in Bali today, don’t worry too much about the early wind direction change we’ve been getting the last week. I’m sure she’ll be swinging back to the ESE-SE for another burst of clean off-shore wind before the season well and truelly ends.
Have a good one.
