****MORNING SURF REPORT****
Hello crew and welcome aboard the baliwaves.com for our Sunday Session on todays surfing and weather conditions here on the happy little holiday island of Bali. Our friends at Hendra Surf Photography down at Uluwatu have dropped off another batch of photos for ya’s last night and I’ve loaded those into our Readers Report page. So once your done here make sure you have a “Captain Cook”.
This mornings 6.45am surf check on the Outer Reefs was showing wave height to have dipped down a foot or so. Leaving wave height in the waist to head high range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was still too low at the time for Kuta Reef and Airports but there was a surfer or two sitting on Middle Reef waiting for the head high set waves. But by now, mid morning, there should be a wave or two breaking on KR and AL in the waist to chest high class.
Surfing conditions were clean with the wind coming lightly out of the NNE @ 1-3knot. It has since swung a little more towards the Eastern off-shore quadrant here along Bali’s Premier West Coast.
The next tide is going to be a 1.8mtr High around 1.00pm
Weather wise plenty of blue sky here in Tuban and we’ll be in for another hot and humid one along the beach. Expecting a top temperature of up to 34 degree’s Celsius.
Looking for a wave, Uluwatu would be the best of the best with more size and power on offer. Just watch out for the surfers that should still be down along Kuta beach in the surf schools.
Speaking of Kuta Beach and all the way north to Seminyak Beach. I’m sure anyone who is staying close to the sand or frequenting the beach along that stretch has noticed the strong fishy smell in the water. Caused by the anual Pilchard run that has been on over the last week. These small Sardine like fish have been schooling in huge numbers just out behind the waves. Which the local / Indonesian fishermen from Jimburan Bay have been netting non stop. Now the cause of the smell is that once these fishermen’s boats are full they just simply throw whatevers left in their nets into the water to wash up on Kuta to Seminyak beach.
If it’s clean safe and friendly accommodation here in Tuban only 300mtrs back from the Outer Reefs, including A/C, hot water, refridgerator & TV for US$15.00 (Rp150,000) per night (single) or US$18.00 (Rp180,000) for a couple and US$25.00 (Rp250,000) twin share. Then drop me an email but usually we do need a few weeks notice.
We are also now sending out brief random surf reports and ravings through Twitter mobile phone service so sign up today !
As you all know we have been trialing a new photo viewing program to make it easier for you to flick through the photos on site. Ok, as you also should know is that we highly value our advertisers / sponsors, as they help pay our running costs / bills etc etc. So at the end of the trial period (1 month) if our advertisers / sponsors are still getting the same amount of views and visits then we will keep this system in place. If not then it’ll be back to the old system !!! So please make the time to visit the good folk who help keep the baliwaves on your monitor.
Now’s also a good time to start planning your 2010 Bali / Indo surf trip. If it’s an island hoping adventure on a live aboard surfing charter boat make sure you take a look at what the boys from www.indoocean.com have got on offer for you. G-Land, start getting your friends together for the ultimate surfing adventure at one of the surfing wonders of the World. Check out the guys at www.g-landsurfcamp.com for the experience. How about totally spoiling yourself at one of the private island resorts (Kandui / Macaroni’s) up in the Mentawai’s ?
Ok that’s me for now and a big thanks for supporting the baliwaves, the original Bali Surf Report website since ’99.
Best Regards from Bali
