****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hi folks and thanks for waiting for me to get back from Uluwatu with these latest photos for ya’s.
Ok, this mornings 7.00am surf check on the Outer Reefs was showing wave height to have backed off a touch from yesterday, but still breaking in the chest to head high plus range between Kuta Reef and Airport left. The tide was just hitting the bottom of the Low so Middle Reef was the first choice for the 6-10 surfers already in the water. With the wind blowing light off-shore out of the ENE @ 2-4knot.
But dedicated as Slim is hit the road for Uluwatu. I was just a touch late… the wind as you can see in the photos had already swung right around to the S-SSE and on-shore. Even so surfing conditions were still clean and glassy with wave height pushing the double head high range on the sets. With the tide now pushing up pretty fast the Main Peak and Temple sections was where the best surf was. Crowd wise there was around 30 surfers spread from the Peak down through the Racetrack and then around another dozen surfers riding the Temple section.
Coming home past Padang Padang and Impossible’s there was hardly anything breaking on either reef. But plenty of action on the beach at Padang Padang. Now that I’m back behing the PC the wind seems to have swung back more to the ESE and clean off-shore here along the West Coast. The weather reports have also predicted more off-shore wind for tomorrow.
Just for the record Tidal info for today had a 0.1mtr Low @ 6.30am this morning and then running back up for a 1.9mtr High around 12.30pm.
Weather wise here in Tuban there’s been nothing but blue sky and sunshine, while down at Uluwatu there was a few drops of rain and pretty much constant cloud cover. Currently the temperature would be sitting on 33 degree’s Celsius @ 2.30pm.
If it’s clean safe and friendly accommodation here in Tuban only 300mtrs back from the Outer Reefs, including A/C, hot water, refridgerator & TV for US$15.00 (Rp150,000) per night (single) or US$18.00 (Rp180,000) for a couple and US$25.00 (Rp250,000) twin share. Then drop me an email but usually we do need a few weeks notice.
We are also now sending out brief random surf reports and ravings through Twitter mobile phone service so sign up today !
As you all know we have been trialing a new photo viewing program to make it easier for you to flick through the photos on site. Ok, as you also should know is that we highly value our advertisers / sponsors, as they help pay our running costs / bills etc etc. So at the end of the trial period (1 month) if our advertisers / sponsors are still getting the same amount of views and visits then we will keep this system in place. If not then it’ll be back to the old system !!! So please make the time to visit the good folk who help keep the baliwaves on your monitor.
Now’s also a good time to start planning your 2010 Bali / Indo surf trip. If it’s an island hoping adventure on a live aboard surfing charter boat make sure you take a look at what the boys from www.indoocean.com have got on offer for you.
