ULUWATU
Hi crew, sorry about the lack of words in yesterdays surf report. But then again some of you were probaly grateful I spared you my ravings, who knows. Anyway there was a little bit more swell showing around the island and Ulu was picking up 2-3ft+ of it (waist to just over head high). These current photos were taken through the top end of the tide. There was a bit of a wait for the bigger set waves and quite a few surfers waiting for them. Both on the Main Peak and further down on Temple’s.
We hung out through the afternoon as the tide was running out for the Racetrack section to start working and there were a few sly little tubes being ridden by local surfers Made Lapor and Made Lana. Unfortunately I hadn’t charged my camera battery pack for at least 3 months so under “Murphy’s Law” she ran out just as these two rippers hit the water.. Driving home past Padang Padang and Impossoible’s there was at least 20 surfers on long boards riding the top end of Impossible’s @ 1-2ft. With another handful scattered down along the reef towards Bingin.
Surfing conditions as ya’s can see were clean and tidy with the wind coming out of the NE @ 3-6knot then tending more to the SSE around midday before swinging around to the West on sunset.
We’ll probably be heading back down to Uluwatu later this morning (15th) so tune in later this afternoon for more photos. Wave height has been forecasted to bump another foot today, so there should be a few good one’s down there.
Tidal info for yesterday had a 2.1mtr High @ 11.00am and then a 0.6mtr Low around 5.00pm. Today the 15th and it’s a 2.2mtr High @ 11.30am and then running out for a 0.4mtr Low @ 5.30pm. We also had a New Moon on the 13th so you can expect to see some bigger tidal differences over the next few days.
Weather wise yesterday it was pure holiday weather right through until late afternoon when the cloud started to roll over.
Lakey Peak on Sumbawa, well I’m sure most of you already know that I only really like to type positive stuff for Bali and the rest of the surfing destinations here in Indonesia. Me myself I’ve been over to Lakey’s at least 15-20 times through the early 2000’s, and have a lot of local friends, not surfers, but locals who live in the area. But after posting the story of the knife weilding thief at Periscope’s I’ve since been sent in another tale of fear and loathing from Lakey’s. So once again take care if your planning a surfing holiday outside of Bali’s relative safety net. I’m posting the latest news from Australian Dan. W. into our story section as it’s a lengthy little piece.
