****AFTERNOON WRAP UP****
Hi folks and thanks for waiting around to get a decent look at whats been happening surf and weather wise here on your favorite surfing holiday island destination of Bali. And I tell ya’s it’s been a very busy little 36hr period that’s just past.
Well first up the swell that was predicted for Sunday was a non event here along the West Coast and I’m sure there were a lot of dissapointed surfers all over the surrounding islands as well. Wave height as you can see in these photos I shot out at Kuta Reef was only really averaging in the 2-3ft ot chest to head high class with the occassional bigger set wave. Reports in from Uluwatu was of head to double head high.
This morning though and wave height was definitely a bit bigger and way more consistent, well at Kuta Reef where we surfed at anyway. No photos today as I was a typical selfish surfer trying to get as many waves to myself as possible (and right now my body is aching :).
Today we had a very consistent head to well over head high surf at KR with around 25 -30 surfers scattered down the reef. Much bigger at Middle Reef, pushing the double head high range and plenty of surfers out there as well.
Reports in from Canggu said that it was to big and messy up there this morning. I also took an afternoon drive up to Half Way Kuta and Padma St on the high tide for a look. Surfing conditions along the beach were pretty average with the majority of waves just closing out.
Surfing conditions yesterday were clean enough even though the wind was light on-shore coming out of the West @ 3-6knot. Then around 5.00pm she finally swung back to the ESE for a clean off-shore wind sun set session. Today it was pretty similar only more glassy surfing conditions at Kuta Reef and now at 4.00pm the wind has swung back to the ESE and off-shore again between Kuta and Uluwatu.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that; — 1AU$=Rp8,325 — 1US$=Rp9,100 — Rates will vary from vendor to vendor of course.
Ok I’m not gunna go into too much more detail, I just want to lie down and watch some cable for an hour or two. But I do have some more photos to edit and load up for ya’s that our good friends at Hendra Surf Photography have sent into us. But give me a break first :)
