****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy folks and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions here on the holiday island of Bali.
As we can see in these new photos, today we hit the road and headed for Uluwatu around 6.30am. So we didn’t really get a chance to check out what was happening on the Kuta Reef to Airport Left stretch of waves. But as we drove past Padang Padang we were happy to see 2-3 footers breaking on the top end of Impossible’s. Cause if it’s 2-3ft there then Uluwatu has gotta be head to double head high.
The tide was running in hard by the time we arrived, an hour or so too late for the Racetrack section. But still plenty of action on the Main Peak. Not a real tube filled session, except for the one that my friend Mattia scored just as I turned on my camera. Photos 1-10 were taken from a 25 frame sequence. Plus the local Uluwatu grommets were surfing well as usual. There were around 30 surfers already in the water spread out between Temple’s and the Racetrack @ 7.15am. As the tide peaked at a solid 2.6mtr High @ 11.00am there would have been closer to 80 over the same distance (600-700mtrs give or take).
Surfing conditions, clean with a light and very variable wind.
We did eventually get a look at Kuta Reef at 1.00pm and even though the wind was on-shore out of the SW there were still a few head high waves peeling off. No surfers spotted in the water.
Weather wise, mainly overcast down at Uluwatu this morning with the odd threat of rain still to come. Temperature wise by midday it would have easily been 32 C down on the Bukit.
