Hi folks better a bit late than never I suppose so here’s a few photos I shot over at Keramas here on Bali’s East Coast yesterday. It was pretty tough trying to find some clean waves yesterday with the wind constantly changing direction along with intermitant rain through out the morning.
Here on the Outer Reefs in Tuban, that we checked out first, wave height was still a fairly healthy head to well over head between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But with the wind blowing on-shore out of the NW @ 4-6knot. No shortage of surfers on all 3 of the main sections. So we then headed for the East Coast with Padang Galak as our first stop. No other surfers in sight at “Secrets” (highly unusual) but understandable with cross / off-shore wind and pretty messy surfing conditions, wave height in the head to head high plus range. So we jumped back in the rental and headed for Keramas.
As ya’s can see in this photo gallery wave height was coming through consistantly in the head to head high plus sector with the wind shifting about between the North East to Southern quadrants. But still the best waves we’d seen that morning, only 6 other surfers in the water with the FOX Team surfers putting on another air show.
Weather wise it was horrible over on the East Coast for the first half of the day. Then when we headed back home to the West Coast it followed us back and rained most of the afternoon.
Talking about this weather… What we have this season is a pretty late start changing over from wet season to the dry. For years and years gone by it looked like the wet season December through till April was getting shorter and shorter. With our dry season kicking in through March and maybe even as early as the end of Febuary. But this year that theory has been blown apart. Here we are at the end of May and we’ve still got shitty wind, where’s the Trady ?
