****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hi folks and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves.com to see whats been happening surf and weather wise here on the happy little surfing holiday island of Bali.
Well here we are at the end of May, and not a bad effort we’ve put in for ya’s with over 1000 photos posted on site for your pleasure.
This mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was looking like wave height had backed off a touch more over night. Leaving chest to head high plus waves between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. There was waves to be had out there but we thought we’d go for a run down to Uluwatu and check it out down there. As ya’s can see in todays photos I shot wave height was pushing the 5-6ft range (double to double head high plus). We never arrived until around 9.00am and I was pretty surprised to see only 8 surfers in the water. The smallest crowd I’ve seen at Uluwatu this year. With the tide still pushing in on the Main Peak, straight out front of the cliff side cafe’s, was where the action was. We hung out till 12.30pm and left Uluwatu with waves still consistantly coming through. By this time the number of surfers had reached 35.
We also made a quick stop at the Padang Padang look out to see if there were any signs of swell. Padang Padang itself was hardly breaking with the tide gone just past the top of a 2.6mtr High. Impossible’s had it’s usual crew of leaner long boarders with wave height in the waist to chest high region.
Surfing conditions this morning were clean with the wind coming out of the SE @ 3-6knot. Then turning more to the SSE by 12.00noon and a little cross shore on Uluwatu.
The next Low tide will be a reef exposing 0.1mtr @ 6.00pm. I’m also thinking that we might see some serious swell starting to pour through around the same time.
Weather wise it’s been another cloudy, wet and humid day here along the west Coast with the temperature peaking around 30 degree’s Celsius.
Today’s sms surf report from the good guys at the G-Land Surf Camp was calling wave height to be hitting Money Tree’s in the double to double head high plus range. No surfers in the water at the time of the report.
Traffic Alert, as usual try and avoid the road that run into and along the front of Kuta / Legian beach as you’ll find nothing but traffic jammed from 4.00pm till 10.00pm everyday.
