Macaronis Resort Surf Report – May 2010
Gday Crew
Waves have been pumping here as usual. The mooring buoy system is now fully implemented at Macaronis since April 20 and resort guests have been enjoying surfing at macas with guests from maximum 2 boats in the bay.
This is a great break through to provide an exciting experience for all surfers visiting Macaronis, either by staying at Macas Resort or whilst visiting on a Charted boat – no more traffic jams in the bay, so everybody is stoked!!
We have had some top trips in May, with the Newcastle boys visiting earlier on, fantastic trip with great waves and plenty of them to go around, hehehe that trip was tainted by a few too many flaming lamboghini’s on a couple of nights, on ya Darrell for getting that one started. Some interesting video footage too….
Then we had Adriano De Souza and Silvana Lima stay for 2 weeks, first week we had a heavy storm pattern but fortunately the next week dished up some epicness at Greenbush, Rednuht and the bush. Silvana recently just won the comp in Peru and publically thanked Macas as the wave assisted in perfecting her surfing for that event. Adriano was absolutely ripping as usual, and it was a pleasure to have him stay with us again.
Later we had Sol Baliey and his dad Andrew among other punters who shredded macas to pieces, and later the Byron boys hit macas with tracks magazine including Danny Wills, Kieren Perro and Garrett Parkes who joined Soli at Macas for a week of left hander madness. The boys scored the Bush on fire first up, then later Macaronis served up its stock standard with the boys showing everybody what can be done in one of the most high performance lefts on the planet.
4 days ago we ended the Byron boys trip, was a bit of a finally as Billy came in with a big cut on his eye hit by the rail, Barts sprained his ankle whilst in the tube, Col from tracks mag got his gut shredded going too deep, Fisher from the mango even got a shredding, in fact there was a bit of carnage all round, as the new swell kicked in to say goodbye to the Byron lads and welcome a new group of guests to Macas Resort.
The past 4 days we have had some insane Macaronis 4-6 foot with a good crowd in the water, so all the punters are completely stoked with an abundance of shack time and smackable lips on offer.
Just today was the highlight though Saturday 19th June (although every other day was pretty damn awesome as well), just one boat in the bay, half of the boat guests injured, so were surfing macas 4-6 foot perfection with just 5-8 surfers in the water (amazingly Addiction left the mooring they had booked and did not tell anybody?? They blew it, it was firing today!!).
Then to make the day even more insane, for of our guests went to Greenbush and surfed that ALONE sheet glass perfect (like macas) but 6-8 feet with unbelievable caverns, heart in the throat tubes to be enjoyed. They then went to Rags Right as a slight west breeze blew up and surfed that 4-5 feet ALONE, then back to Greenbush as the wind went East again, surfed it ALONE again, with some monsterous glassy shacks coming through as the tide started to drop and things became even more serious, but fortunately they all made it back in one piece with grins from ear to ear!!
Well there ya have it, we have a full camp this week and everybody has been scoring epic perfection in the Southern Ment’s, and next week we have just 5 guests booked compared to 16 this week, so for anybody keen get on the email now and drop a line to [email protected] and we should be able to sort you out with a spot no worries and with a small discount at such late notice. But for those interested, we really need to know by Monday 21st so best get on to it.
Ok crew, that’s about it from us, apart from next week we still have plenty of spots left for anybody that would like to join us this year, just keep in mind our trips begin on Tuesdays and end on Thursdays, so just drop us a line if you’re interested to come and get some waves with us…..
Cheers
Mark @ Macas
