****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hello crew and thanks for waiting around for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions here on the always in season tropical surfing holiday island of Bali.
This mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing our new swell starting, with chest to over head high waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Plenty of surfers already in the water on all main sections with the tide still running out. But as you can see in today’s 94 strong photo gallery Ketut and I made our way down to Uluwatu. We arrived just before the tide hit the bottom of the low, around 9.30am. Wave height at Ulu was in the 3-5ft range with surfers riding the Racetrack and Main Peak sections. As the tide started to run back in wave height also increased to a more respectable sized double to triple head high plus on the Peak.
Driving back home past Padang Padang and Impossible’s there were some head to head high plus lines peeling down through Impossible’s. Padang Padang also had some waves, but not enough to run the Rip Curl Cup. The sms I received from the contest crew was saying that they will be making the call for the contest to run or wait at 6.00am tomorrow morning.
Surfing conditions today were clean but with the ESE – SSE off-shore Tradewind howling up to 18knot putting some chop on the face of the bigger waves.
Weather wise there were a few drops of rain while on the way to Uluwatu this morning but it soon cleared up for another classic hot and sunny day for the lucky one’s here on holiday.
Swell Prediction; Everything is still looking sound for a new swell to start appearing on Bali’s reefs in the next 24hr’s. Tomorrow morning there should already be more swell that will slowly build through Thursday with some fairly solid waves. Friday is still looking good but slowly backing off through until late Sunday before a fresh new medium sized swell backs up on next Monday.
