Kandui Surf Resort Mentawai Islands
Sep 21st surf report.
Well, our swell showed up just as the forecasters predicted, and southeast winds
that were forecasted eariler in the week showed up for about an hour late in the
afternoon yesterday. A few of our guys were on Hideaways like white on rice and got
a couple of the first waves of the swell to themselves before the sun went down.
But, alas, west winds kicked up overnight and blew out all the lefts we had been
thinking would be going off today. Justice, our resident Kandui charger, is ready
to slit his wrists being disappointed yet again by fables of approaching southeast
winds, which are becoming about as believable as Big Foot at this point! Luckily,
the swell was big enough that enough energy wrapped around the island and Rifles had
some good waves that were going a couple of feet overhead. It was clean all day at
Rifles, as well as the waves in front of the resort, and we logged in a lot of hours
surfing again today! We are going to need a
rest before a bigger swell is due to arrive by late Wednesday.
