****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Hello again surfers and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com (’99) again to see what’s been happening here on your first choice surfing holiday destination of Bali.
First off our congratulations go out to Marlon Gerber who took out the open division of yesterdays RipCurl contest down at Half Way / Kuta beach. This event was also the deciding point on who was going to be this years Indonesian surfing champion. In the end it was down to just two surfers, Pepen Hendrik and Putra Hermawan. By the end of the 4th round it was 18 year old Putra Hermawan to be crowned. This also makes him the youngest ever surfer to be No.1 in Indonesia. The surfers were competing in 2-4 foot waves (waist to over head) that were offering both left and right hand rides and clean cross/off-shore wind.
This mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was again looking good out there. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left is still holding in the head to double head high range. With the early morning high tide Kuta Reef was peeling off some long and perfect rides in the chest to over head sector. There was also a lot of surfers out there taking advantage of the perfect conditions. Airport Left was also similar in size to KR but not as consistent and no where near as long a ride. Middle Reef was smoking through sets in the double head high class and is only going to get better and better with the out going tide.
Looking for a wave this morning you could have taken your pick starting from the Kuta beach breaks down to the Outer Reefs. Then further south the next stop could have been Balangan and then on to Bali’s Premeir surfing arena of Uluwatu. Later this morning Bingin could also be worth a look on the lower end of the tide.
Our good friends at Hendra Surf Photography down at Uluwatu were also busy yesterday and last night delivered a bunch of photos (50 odd) to us. You can find those little gems on our Readers Report page.
Surfing conditions this morning are pretty much as good as it gets with the wind blowing straight off-shore out of the East @ 2-5knot.
Tidal info for today has us down for a 0.6mtr Low around the 10.30AM mark and then back filling with 1.8mtr High @ 5.00PM.
Weather out look for today, my guess is that it’ll be another hotter than hot day similar to yesterday. Then late afternoon clouding over with the chance of some rain. Temperature wise the mercury should peak at around 32 – 34 degree’s Celsius.
