****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hi again folks I thought I’d just bring you up to date on today’s session down at Uluwatu. We timed our trip to coincide with the start of the run out tide, so we never arrived down there until 12.45PM. First of all we were pretty happy to see waves in the 2-3ft+ range and only something like 30 surfers scattered from Temple’s down to the Main Peak. And as predicted wave height did creep up into the occasional solid over head sector with the dropping tide.
As you can see in the photos I shot surfing conditions down at Uluwatu were clean with the off-shore SE wind gusting up to 14knot. As the tide continued to drop the Racetrack started spinning some deep and fast tube rides. By 2.30PM there was just under 100 surfers scattered from Temple’s, Main Peak and down through the Racetrack. We hung out until just before the sun dipped over the horizon (sipping a cold bintang on my friends veranda). Nice way to finish off the day.
I’ve got another day of ceremonies tomorrow so I hope these 49 photos in today’s gallery can hold you over.
Have a good one
****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Hello surfers and thanks for calling by the baliwaves (since ’99) to see whats been happening here on the always in season holiday destination of Bali.
Ok, so it’s been a big weekend for us here in Tuban with a lot of preparation for the anniversary of our beach side Temple. This has kept the local fishermen pretty busy from last Friday through till the Full Moon on Sunday. So that’s partly the cause for no surf reports Sunday and Monday, the other reason is that there hasn’t been a hell of a lot of surf either.
Ketut did make a run up up to Canggu yesterday and these current photos depict exactly how it was. Mind you the photos that normally appear on baliwaves are 9.9 times out of 10 the bigger set waves.
This mornings 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs was showing 1-2 footers starting to break between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. A lot bigger than yesterdays 0-1ft and hopefully will jump up a touch more by midday to early afternoon. With this mornings low tide of 0.1mtr’s at 6.00AM I reckon if you were out at Middle Reef with a friend or two you might have got a couple of fun sized waves. But, there wasn’t any surfers in sight while I was on the beach. We plan on taking a run down to the southern end of the island after lunch to see whats conditions are like, so hopefully we’ll get you some new material to look at.
Surfing conditions at the time were clean and glassy with only a whisper of wind coming lightly out of the North at 0-1knot. This is what’s been happening over the last week. The wind has been light out of the N-NW through the morning before swinging back to the SE-SSE around midday. A typical trait indicating the change in seasons.
The next tide today is going to be a 1.9mtr High around 11.30AM then finishing off the day with a 0.6mtr Low around 5.00PM.
Weather wise here in this part of the island (Kuta / Tuban) we have a mainly blue sky over us for now. Heading for a maximum temperature between 31 – 33 degree’s Celsius.
Changing dollars to Rupiah of the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1US$=Rp8,880 — 1AU$=Rp8,750 — And of course these rates will vary from vendor to vendor.
