****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hello surfers and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com (’99) for todays low down on surfing and weather conditions from here on the always “in-season” holiday island of Bali.
This mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs was as expected (hoped for) a little better again, breaking in the waist to head high region between Kuta Reef and Airports. I didn’t stick around for long, just long enough to feel the conditions and see a couple of head high set waves break on Airport Left. Probably the same size around the other side of the runway as well. Kuta Reef also had waves peeling off in the waist to waist high plus range.
Surfing conditions were clean and glassy with the wind only just detectable out of the North. As it says on photo No.1 we had to head back to Canggu for another early morning session. Conditions were saying that everything was in place for some fun sized waves, and as you already know, it was. The left hand reef break out the front of the cafe’s had 6 surfers on it catching chest to head high plus waves. The right hand river mouth around 15 riders and waist to chest high plus set waves. The left hander on the sand bar was dishing out the best waves for size and power. Probably around another 15 – 20 surfers spread across the sand section of the beach with consistent chest to head high plus waves.
The wind stayed light through until around 9.30 – 10.00 and even when we packed up at 10.30AM it was still looking ok, just without the gloss. Traffic wise it was a breeze both there and back using the Sunset “by-pass” Road.
Weather wise it’s been overcast all day with just an odd drop or two of rain. Temperature wise a mild 28 degree’s celsius, with the water temp also a warm 24 degree’s Celsius.
Changing dollars out on the streets of Kuta: — 1AU$=Rp8,940 — 1US$=Rp8,990 — rates will vary from vendor to vendor.
We’ve also been playing around with our “locations” page where we are currently up-dating with more locations, and an extra bonus of Bali street maps. So go and get yourself lost in there !
This weeks wave forecast doesn’t look too bad and should produce waves from head high right through into the solid sector. Hopefully the early morning glass sessions will continue, so stay tuned and see what happens.
