****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hello people and welcome back to the baliwaves (since ’99) for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions from here on the No.1 holiday destination for surf, sun & fun, Bali.
Well we’ve been hard on the wave hunt trail for the last two days now and I tell ya’s it’s been hard to find. Yesterday the 16th of December we headed up to Keramas over on the East Coast, but only to find cross shore wind with waves hitting the waist high range on the bigger sets. Pretty ordinary but seeing as though there were no other surfers in the water the boys still had fun.
This morning we thought we’d better revert back to a quick conditions check on the Outer Reefs before making tha call on where to head. So at 8.00AM the wind was coming out of the W-NW @ 4-7knot. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was a crumbly wasit to waist high plus. So we didn’t have too many options to find an uncrowded wave. Serangan on Bali’s East Coast is usually a safe bet to find a wave when conditions are not at their optimum, but it’s also usually crowded. As you can see in today’s photo gallery there was a few little fun waves and clean glassy conditions. There was probably 10 surfers in the water when we arrived but it wasn’t long after that there were only 3 surfers in the water at Serangan. I say you could have also got some waves further down south at Nusa Dua and maybe Green Bowl’s and Nyang Nyangs.
Weather wise over on the East Coast this morning it was a mixed bag of sun and cloud. Temperature wise the mercury would have just busted the 30 – 31 degree Celsius mark
The swell forecaster’s are calling in an increase in wave height for tomorrow and that should provide waves over the weekend and into early next week. So make sure you check in at the baliwaves cause we’ll be out there.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1AU$=Rp8,875 — 1US$=Rp8,910 — Rates will vary on the street.
We’ve also been playing around with our “locations” page where we are currently up-dating with more locations, and an extra bonus of Bali street maps. So go and get yourself lost in there !
