****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hello to all you surfers tuning into the baliwaves (’99) again today for the “1 click” run down on today’s surfing and weather conditions from here on the No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
This morning with the wind up early coming out of the West @ 5 knot we didn’t bother doing the surf check on the Outer Reefs, we headed straight over to the East Coast (as per my early morning “twitter” up dates) for an easy session at Serangan. The tide was running in when we arrived at 8.30AM and wave height coming through the middle in the waist to head high range. The wind wasn’t hitting the waves square off-shore, but still super clean in the cross / off-shore wind.
There were at least 40 surfers in the water on my first head count, but with the shifting peaks it wasn’t looking too bad. Until, the surf schools started to arrive in numbers. I counted 2 Russian surf schools and 2 more local outfits. So then there were kooks on mals all through the line up and my crew soon packed it in and we buggered off for a cruise down to Green Bowls on the South Eastern end of the island.
Greeny’s had a lot more swell hitting the reef with some set waves hitting the double head high class. There was one lone surfer out there (not recommended) in the on shore and bumpy looking conditions. We hung out and had a coke and a few laughs with the locals then called it a day. Tomorrow’s a new day, so we’ll be back out there again looking for another location. So feel free to drop in again tomorrow to Bali’s premier surfing website.
Tidal info for today had us down for a 0.2mtr Low @ 7.00AM and then flowing back in with another solid 2.5mtr High around the 1.00PM mark.
Weather wise it’s been a beauty with more or less nothing but blue sky and sunshine. Temperature wise the mercury would have easily busted through the low 30’s on the Celsius scale, while the water temperature is a real 24 degree’s Celsius.
