****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hello again to everyone tuning into the baliwaves.com (’99) for the latest news on today’s surfing and weather conditions from here on your best bet surfing holiday island destination of Bali.
Our sunset surf check on the Outer Reefs yesterday was telling me that we were going to have to do some serious miles on the road today if we were going to be finding any waves. So as it says on photo No.1 we were up way before the sun rise and on the highway heading for Balian.
Pulling into the car park* just as the sun was clearing the Eastern horizon the boys and I were pretty happy to see waves hitting the rivermouth peak in the chest to over head range. Surfing conditions were also faultless with a light off-shore Northerly breeze and no surfers in the water, yet. The tide was still running out which isn’t the optimum for Balian but we were taking what ever was on offer after the 2hr drive from home.
The waves remained fairly consistent and clean while we were on location, but by the time we had lunch and loaded the car a quick head count was calling 40 surfers spread over the peak. I have to also say it was one of the less scary drives I’ve had on the main cargo route to Java. We didn’t even get run off the road by a suicide bus or truck driver once.
Tidal info for today had us penned in for a 0.4mtr Low @ 7.30Am and then running back up for a 2.4mtr High around the 2.00PM mark.
Weather wise we’ve had another cloudy and overcast day with a maximum temperature of around 28 degree’s Celsius.
I also had a phone call from KL reporting in from Keramas. Apparently we made the right call heading up the coast this morning as KL was calling wave height at Keramas to be dribbling through in the waist high class (6.15AM)
Swell Prediction; Hopefully we should see the next spike in wave height kicking in this Friday. It’s showing some positive period at this point in time and should get us through the weekend.
