2nd – 3rd February 2011
****EVENING SURF UP DATE****
Hello surfers and thanks for dropping by your baliwaves.com (’99) for our 1 click run down on today’s surfing and weather conditions from here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday island destination of Bali.
Just for the record yesterday was a bit of a shocker weather wise, or to be more specific the wind was howling out of the W – WSW with a few rain showers thrown in. This morning (re my twitter up dates) it was looking like the bad weather we have had over the last week was finally breaking up. The wind was down to around 10knot and coming more out of the WNW, the best thing was the sun was out !
Our surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing a little bit more size this morning, still on shore and mushy but now showing in the knee to waist high plus range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. I had to pick up a new arrival at midday so we made our way over to the East Coast for a quick paddle at Serangan around 2.00PM.
As you’ve already seen in our latest photo gallery wave height was hitting the main section in the waist to head high range. There was the occasional slightly over head freak set, but not many. The wind had returned and was back to howling strength coming out of the WSW @ 15 – 20knot. Crowd wise at least 45 surfers spread over the left and right handers.
Leo from bali-surfing.com sent me through his report from where he surfed this morning at Nusa Dua. Wave height according to Leo was coming through nice and cleanly in the head to well over head class. Clean surfing conditions through until around 9.00AM when the wind started to get a little South into her. Only 8 surfers in the line up for the morning session. along with 1 local, a 7ft Tiger shark.
Tidal info for today had us down for a 1.9mtr High @ 10.00AM and then running back out for a 0.9mtr Low around the 4.00PM mark. Tomorrow also has a new moon rising so we’ll be back into some good tide ranges again soon.
Weather wise right now @ 6.00PM the sky is as about as black as it can be, loaded with big fat black rain clouds…
Ok then that’s me for today but tomorrow we’ll be back out on the wave hunt early. I did load another surf report and fresh photos sent to us from our good friends up at the Kandui Surf Resort in the Mentawai Islands, so check that out if you get time. I’m still working on getting that new video clip together as well. I did almost have it done and my bastard lap top crashed and I lost it, hang in there.

Night club danger; New’s came through to me over last weekend of an Australian having the shit kicked out of him by no less than 6 security staff in a Kuta night club on Friday night. Apparantly the English owners of the bar gave the order to the security staff…. Caruso’s Bar.
We’ve also been playing around with our “Surf Spots” page where we are currently up-dating with more locations, and an extra bonus of Bali street maps. So go and get yourself lost in there !
Best Regards in Surfing
