****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Howdy folks and welcome back to the baliwaves.com for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions to hit the screens from here on the Worlds most famous surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well with another dose of strong westerly wind and buckets full of rain this morning we decided to chill out for the morning and settle for the afternoon paddle. So around 11.30AM we headed over to the East Coast for a surf check on Serangan. And at first glimpse it wasn’t looking to bad at a nice head to head high plus peeling off over on the left hand reef. The left and right handers straight out in front of the beach also had plenty of waves coming through.
Crowd wise it was reasonably tame when we pulled up but within an hour there would have been at least 80 surfers out the front and another 15+ riding the left hand reef. But.. then some big solid black clouds blew over the hill from Nusa Dua and within another 15 minutes the wind was coming hard out of the SSW and cross / on shore.
I also heard from the “Doktor” up at Keramas this morning and he was calling some nice little waves up to head high on the morning run in, but not with out plenty of surfers in the water.
Tidal info for today had us down for a deep 2.6mtr High @ 11.30AM and then draining out for a reef exposing 0.1mtr Low around the 6.00PM mark.
Weather wise the sun did finally come out for a few bursts but for the most of it it’s been mainly overcast and the big chance of a few drops more later this evening.
I didn’t get a chance to check today’s exchange rate but will give ya’s a heads up as soon I do.
Travel Tip; The other day I mentioned how it was important to be the holder of an International drivers license if you were going to be driving yourself around Bali. Well thanks to one of our long time readers, Levi Snowy. Here is some news that I wasn’t aware of, so I’m sure none of you are either.
“gday Slim , not sure if your aware, and no – one tells you in OZ , but international
drivers licences need to be endorsed by the local police in Indo to be legal .
Almost all street cops are unaware of this, but its actually not legal without it
(the indonesian Police endorsement stamp), and it may implicate someone legally
incase of an accident or medivac insurance claim ( in a bad way ) if the endorsement
wasnt done.
All thats required is the licence is to be presented to any police station, where a
RP15,000 admin fee is paid and they will put the endorsement stamp on the front of
the international licence for you .
Better to be safe than sorry if shit was to happen.”
Good news for any of you that want to get over to the legendary location of G-Land this year as baliwaves.com will still be dishing out a solid 15% discount off their advertised prices for the G-Land Surf Camp. All camps at G-Land will be re opening in March 2011 so if you want some un crowded G-Land get in early. Make sure you contact us first if you want that 15% rebate back in your pocket.
