****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Howdy folks and welcome back to your baliwaves (’99) for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions from here on everybody’s favorite surf and sun filled holiday destination of Bali.
This mornings surf check on the Outer reefs here in Tuban wasn’t looking too bad. Wave height had crept up a notch over night and then (6.30AM) showing in the 2-4ft class or waist to over head between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was still running up at the time and there were waves and surfers on all of the main sections.
From there we took a run up to Tanalot and cruised in close past Canggu to see wave height also getting in there around the same size, waist to overhead. There was also plenty of un ridden waves at the harder to find locations all the way to where the ancient Balinese Hindu Temple is located. There were also a few local surfers riding the left hander just to the North of the Temple.
Still no fish, so from there we cut a straight line (diagonally ) over to the Bukit coast line right at Balangan. Balangan was looking pretty good with some nice shaped lines breaking hard and fast. From here the next visual was at Bingin, it wasn’t looking real good in the morning with the high tide but by 2.00PM and a reef exposing Low tide it was.
Impossible’s had solid chest to over head long lines peeling off from the middle section with only a handful of surfers, and only improved with the out going tide. The top end of the reef had the now standard 20-30 learner surfers on it. There were even a handful of surfers sitting on Padang Padang but nothing broke when ever we were going to and fro.
Uluwatu and our first strike, a small Spanish Mack, but the hooks pulled 5 feet out from the boat and I watched it swim into the depths. Wave wise Uluwatu was cranking through solid head to double head high waves all day.
Weather wise, hot & sunny. The temperature would have peaked around the 28 – 30 degree Celsius mark. First thing this morning there was a fair bit of North in the wind, only lasting through until the SE Tradewind kicked in @ 10.00AM and was gusting up to 15knots by midday.
Ok that’s how it looked from the view out of my 9mtr double outrigger boat. Tomorrow we’ll be back on the road with the camera gear and hopefully we’ll get a truck load of new photos for ya’s.
