Hello to everyone tuning in to the baliwaves (’99) for the start of another weekend and today’s “1 click” run down on surfing and weather conditions from right here on here on the No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Firstly I’d like to wish all our Balinese friends a Selamat Hari Raya Kuningan for today.
Well seeing as though I never got that last batch of photos on line until late on Thursday afternoon I though I should let them run for an extra day so that everyone got to check them out.
To get the weekend off on a positive roll there were some fun sized waves happening here on the Outer Reefs. This mornings surf recon was showing wave height in the 2-3ft range or waist to head high, take your pick. The tide was around the middle on the run in for a 2.4mtr High scheduled for 10.30AM. Kuta Reef had at least 20 surfers on it with waist to shoulder high set waves. Middle Reef also had a solid crew waiting for the waist to shoulder high sets. Aiport Left was looking the best at the time with a more consistent waist to head high set wave, but with maybe 30 riders on it.
But as Photo No.1 says we headed down south to Uluwatu with a quick stop off at Balangan on the way. Balangan had more of those fun sized waist to head high waves breaking from the point down through to the middle section. With today being super popular with the surf school sect, what ever happened to learning to surf on the safety of the beach breaks ? By the time we arrived at Uluwatu the tide was just passing through the top of the tide and beginning it’s run back out to sea. Wave height was a little more solid with well over head set waves on the Main Peak and Temple sections. Around 40 surfers spread through the Peak down to the top of the Racetrack and then another 15 or so riders up at Temple’s. As the tide was getting lower so were the tubes getting hollwer down along the Racetrack section.
The next Low Tide will be a reef exposing 0.1mtr Low around the 5.00PM mark.
Weather wise it’s been pretty much just another hot and sunny day here on the holiday island. Right now @ 4.30PM the outside temperature is still riding on the 27 degree Celsius mark with the humidity on 76%. Wind direction is coming hard out of the SE @ 12-15knot+.
Our Swell outlook is also looking good for the lucky ones here or soon to be here. We should continue to have waves through out the weekend and through Monday before fading a little on Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday. Then Thursday see’s the start of two new swells that will line up back to back. And I reckon that the surfers on stand by for this years RipCurl Padang Padang Cup had better start getting ready, as come Saturday if the charts hold true, It’s going to be on.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta (Bemo Corner) you’ll find that –1AU$=Rp9,130 — So you couldn’t plan a better time to get yourselves over to Bali for a sure bet surf & sun filled holiday.
