****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Another big hello to everyone tuning into the baliwaves (’99) again today for the Friday afternoon run down on surfing and weather conditions from the “always a new swell in transit” surfing holiday destination of Bali. Speaking of new swell it looks like this coming Sunday will be the next one for us.
This mornings mandatory surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing just enough swell for a mid morning paddle. At 6.30AM the low tide had totally exposed most of the reef but there were still a few surfers in the water on Middle Reef. As the tide started to fill back in there were now some ok little fun sized waves breaking on Kuta Reef and on Airport left in the waist to head high region. Our crew chose AL for there session and not a bad option with under 20 surfers in the line up. I’d imaging now with the tide pouring back out at 4.30PM Middle Reef would be producing some waves again. For those staying down on the “bukit” end of Bali Uluwatu’s Racetrack section might have one or two shallow ones as well.
Surfing conditions today were pretty standard “dry Season” stuff. Staring off the day with clean and glassy waves until the the off shore SE Tradewind kicked in and started gathering more and more momentum.
Tidal info for today had us down for a 0.2mtr Low @ 7.00AM and then filling back in for a 2.2mtr High around the 1.00PM mark.
Weather wise a little bit of cloud drifting over this morning but basically another warm to hot sunny day here on the holiday island. Outside right now the temperature is still a warm 28 degree’s Celsius with the wind coming out of the SE @ 10-14knot+.
Today’s G-Land Surf Report, straight out of the G-Land Surf Camp was calling in wave height at head to well over head high. With the best waves shaping up on Kong’s and Money Tree’s. No surfers in the water at the time of this report @ 7.40AM (East Java time).
Don’t forget to drop us a line if any of you would like a solid discount off your next trip into the G-Land Surf Camp.
Heading towards Kuta / Seminya from any direction you may encounter some traffic delays over the next week or two with the start of Indonesian National holidays, so just be try to be patient.
While I’m on the traffic scene I’ve been meaning to say something about some of the crazy crazy stuff I’ve seen over the years from happy easy going folk on holidays riding motor bikes around Bali when they shouldn’t be. Then spoiling / ending their vacation and maybe their friends vacation from a motor cycle accident. I don’t know what the exact statastics for motorcycle accidents involving foreigners in Bali would be, but I’m damn sure they would be right up there. The average tourist I see on the “automatic scooters” that have never even rode a push bike in heavy traffic, let alone a motorcycle than can hit speeds of over 100kmh is a joke. The most experienced riders in Bali ride slowly with total awarness and caution at all times, helmet, always. So please excersise some common sense when thinking about riding motor bikes in Bali, your on holiday, grab a car and a driver, relax.
