****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Howdy folks and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves.com (’99) for the very latest news on today’s surfing and weather conditions (just for the record the time here in Bali right now has just gone 4.40PM, who knows what time it is where you are ?) from here on the tropical holiday destination flowing with sun, fun and waves all year round.
I made it down for a surf recon on the Outer Reefs this morning at 6.25AM coinciding with a 0.2mtr Low tide, to find, a very dry exposed reef. Not much happening wave wise at the time with only 1-2ft at best lapping onto the reef at Middle’s. Surfing conditions were pristine with just a light off shore breeze.
The best place to head to when waiting for the next swell to arrive is down at Uluwatu. As it show’s in today’s 43 strong photo gallery that’s where we were. Wave height down at Ulu today was a consistent head high with some occasional bigger over head freakies. Not too bad crowd wise until the tide started filling right in, then did it turn into a bit of a circus on the Main Peak. I finally figured out why there are so many relatively new surfers in the water that don’t know the un written rules of surfing. I’m thinking it’s because of the high tech era we are living in this new breed of surfer hasn’t been able to “Google” for the answers. Anyway by midday there would have been close to 90 surfers spread between the Temple and The Peak.
The next tide today is going to be another reef exposer of 0.2mtrs around the 6.00PM mark.
Weather wise today it’s been a beauty with mainly light off shore wind turning a little variable towards midday, then swinging back to the SE through early afternoon. Temperature wise right now the mercury is sitting on a 27 degree’s Celsius.
Today’s G-Land Surf Report thanks to our friends over at the G-Land Surf Camp was calling in wave height at head to over head. The best waves were hitting Kong’s and down through Money Tree’s, improving with more tide. No surfers in the water @ 8.15AM (East Java time).
Don’t forget to drop us a line if any of you would like a solid discount off your next trip into the G-Land Surf Camp.
Heading towards Kuta / Seminya from any direction you may encounter some traffic delays over the next week or two with the start of Indonesian National holidays, so just be try to be patient.
While I’m on the traffic scene I’ve been meaning to say something about some of the crazy crazy stuff I’ve seen over the years from happy easy going folk on holidays riding motor bikes around Bali when they shouldn’t be. Then spoiling / ending their vacation and maybe their friends vacation from a motor cycle accident. I don’t know what the exact statastics for motorcycle accidents involving foreigners in Bali would be, but I’m damn sure they would be right up there. The average tourist I see on the “automatic scooters” that have never even rode a push bike in heavy traffic, let alone a motorcycle than can hit speeds of over 100kmh is a joke. The most experienced riders in Bali ride slowly with total awarness and caution at all times, helmet, always. So please excersise some common sense when thinking about riding motor bikes in Bali, your on holiday, grab a car and a driver, relax.
