Kandui Surf Resort Mentawai Islands
Nov. 8th surf report
The surf has been pretty small here these last few days. There were little waves at Burgerworld, but the guys were Bugered out so they decided to hang around the resort most the time. It was a good group of guys and they were having fun no matter what. There was a little snorkeling going on, some paddleboarding, some hiking around the island, and it’s always glassy and offshore at the bar! We took a dingy ride in the mangrooves which led to a little adventure. We were about as deep as we go in the mangrooves when we hit something submerged in the murky waters and we spung a leak! The cooler with all our drinks quickly became our bailer and we furiously bailed out the boat to keep us afloat and avoid a long walk out of there! It was pretty funny. I attached pictures of the adventure both before and after our calamity. And, although the waves might have been small, our bonfire was the biggest, badest one of the season! We couldn’t get within 10 feet of that baby without having to retreat. That was a fun aftenoon/evening. The sunset was spectacular and the Bintangs were cold.
Our last group of the season will arrive this afternoon and it looks like there are a couple of swells on the way as well. There should be some good surf, even though we are deep into November already. Oh yeah, this group is the Roxy team so it should be a fun trip.
