****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Howdy folks and welcome back to your baliwaves (since ’99) for the absolute latest on today’s surfing and weather conditions from here on the real surfer’s paradise tropical holiday island of Bali.
Ok, so we all know by now that yesterday was the Balinese Hindu day of “Nyepi” (Hari Raya). A day of total rest and revitalization for most, I could personally do with one each week. But there is a lot more to “Nyepi Day” than that I do assure you. Plus all the positive of no power usage (very little and there are exceptions of course). No pollution from cars and bikes, or even airplanes and boats for that matter. No factories, fires, missile tests or violence and mayhem either. Kinda makes “Earth Hour” look a little humble, to Bali’s 24.
This mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban had wave height in the waist to head high region between Kuta Reef and Airport left. At 7.30AM surfing conditions were still relatively clean while the wind was only light out of the North @ 1-3knot. The tide was also on the run up for a 2.5mtr High, scheduled for 11.00AM.
But we headed back over to the East Coast hoping to still see some better sized waves, gambling that the wind would more than likely swing to the West. Taking our time and not getting over there until 10.15AM to see some almost double head high set waves peeling off left and right. Surfing conditions were clean with a pretty much straight off shore wind outta the West.
Tomorrow, same time same place for more Baliwaves.
Don’t even think about not watching the latest Video Clip we have loaded thanks to our friends of the ISC Tour, a mini masterpiece and my favorite so far with two more installments still to run (1 week each so don’t miss out). We can also thank The Real Kandui surf resort up in the Mentawai Islands for another solid surfing installment, so take a browse at their page while your at it.
Today’s next Low Tide was a 0.2mtr Low around the 5.00PM mark.
Weather wise today it’s been a proper mixed up starting off this morning with heavy rain and then running through a cycle of repeated sunshine, cloud cover and then following up more heavy rain. Currently right now at 6.00PM the outside temperature is sitting on 26 degree’s Celsius, Humidity on 89%. Wind direction is now back to the North at 1-2knot.
