****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Howdy folks and welcome back to your baliwaves (since ’99) for the only place to get a birds eye view on today’s surfing and weather conditions right here on everybody’s favorite surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Back to basics today, starting off with a 6.15AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban to find a little more movement and waist to head high waves happening between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. At the time the tide was still a little bit too low for KR or AL but there were a few head high waves peeling off on Middle Reef. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy with the wind coming lightly out of the ENE @ 1-2knot.
Our next stop was for an eyeball down on the southern end of the island at Balangan. Wave height at the once laid back location was showing in the 1-2ft+ sector with around 45 surfers in the water at 8.45AM.
Giving that a miss we kept heading south to the end of the road, Uluwatu, Bali’s premier surfing location. As it shows in today’s photo gallery I snapped off there were some nice fun sized waves in the 3-4ft range breaking from Temple’s all the way down to the Main Peak. When we arrived there would have only been around 20 surfers in the water but the number did increase as the day went on. Surfing conditions at Uluwatu were pristine with a clean off shore wind coming out of the ESE @ 6 – 10knot. It was great to see my old mate Devis Ratif out there surfing with his 8 year old son, sharing waves.
Aaron from Columbia Apartments located right in front of Australia’s super bank has texted through that wave height up at Balian this morning was hitting the A frame left and right in the waist to head high range with only 10 surfers scattered through the line up. Aaron has also sent us through some photos and I’ll get them loaded up into our Readers Report section for ya’s ASAP.
Tidal info for today had us down for a massive 2.6mtr High @ 11.30AM and then draining off for a reef exposing 0.0mtr Low around the 6.00PM mark.
Weather wise it’s been another basic hot and mainly sunny day with a top temperature of 33 degree’s Celsius. Wind direction is currently coming out of the SE @ 5 -8knot.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Legian; — 1AU$=Rp9,280 — 1US$=Rp9,000 — give or take a few Rupiah depending on vendors rates.
