****MIDDAY SURF UP DATE****
Hello surfers and welcome back to your baliwaves (still the best since 1999) for today’s news on surfing and weather conditions from right here on your favorite tropical surfing holiday island of BALI.
Ok so as usual we started off with a 6.30AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban to find wave height to have backed off slightly. But never the less still some nice looking fun waves in the 2-3ft+ sector breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy but with the wind coming lightly out of the North @ 1-3knot.
So with that data processed we sent Ketut and the camera equipment off on the road to Canggu. As it shows in the photos he shot (current gallery) there were plenty of waves breaking on both the right hand river mouth and the left hand sand bar. By 7.30Am the tide was already too full for the left hand reef break. Crowd wise there was the normal average of 20 surfers on the river mouth and and around another dozen riding the grinding left hand sand bar. With the light Northerly wind surfing conditions at Canggu couldn’t have been much cleaner.
A couple of the boys that are staying here with us had a bit of a late start and with the solid High tide this morning (10.00AM) settled for an easy paddle up at Padma St beach breaks. The lads said it was pretty fun with plenty of left and right handers that were pushing head high on the set waves.
Me and my family were over at Nusa Dua this morning and with the light wind there looked to be plenty of swell hitting the end section of Geger Beach, but with quite a few surfers already out there.
My early morning phone call direct out of the G-Land Surf Camp was calling still plenty of lines peeling through from Money Tree’s virtually all the way down to Speed Reef. No surfers in the water at 7.00AM with the crew still waiting for the off shore TradeĀ wind to kick in. Numbers over in all of the camps are still way down, so if you’ve got the time then there’s perfect waves waiting for you at G-Land. The ideal way to do it is to hang out in Bali for your first week, get your rythme happening and then head into the G-Land Surf Camp office and lock it in for an experience you’ll never forget, well until your next trip in anyway. And to make it all a little sweeter contact us here at baliwaves first and I’ll tell you how to get a nice cash back refund into your pocket (only for you guys who support the baliwaves)
The next tide today is going to be a dry reef exposing 0.1mtr Low around 5.00PM this afternoon.
Weather wise, currently right now at 2.00PM the outside temperature is a very nice 28 degree’s Celsius with the Humidity sitting on 70%. Wind direction still has a touch of North in it but that SE off shore Tradewind should be turning it on anytime soon.
Travel Tips:
1/ Ok boys and girls, mums and dads, this is the most important thing you need to remember when your here in Bali. Dengue Fever is a reality and spread by mosquitoes, it’s virus so you can’t take a tablet to prevent it. Here in Bali it has no discrimination as to who will fall victim. So make sure you have insect repellent with you pretty much all the time from those early morning hours and late afternoon when mozzie’s are out looking for a feed of your blood.
2/ This one is more for the boys and girls, riding motor bikes is fun right. But having a motor cycle accident is certainly not, especially when your on holidays. If you don’t ride a bike at home and if you don’t have a license stay away from them. Lately I’ve seen so many fools gassing around on them with absolutely no idea of whats going on around them it is NOT funny. Have you ever seen a hard core cycilist riding around in bare feet, no shirt or helmet ? Why ? Falling off a bike while your doing 35kmh won’t kill you (not every time anyway), but being run over by the car behind or, on coming bloody well will ! Don’t be a tight arse, get a driver and travel in style.
For any of you that just want nothing more than a hassle free, get up and go surf perfect waves every morning (pending Huey), see and do what the hotel / resort sect don’t. Well we have some new surfing / accommodation packages that will have you at the right location at the right time everyday. All deals include your own photographer at no extra cost.
