****AFTERNOON SURF UPDATE****
Hello to all you surfers tuning into the baliwaves (Bali’s first surfing website since 1999) for the absolute latest news on today’s surfing and weather conditions from right here on every sane surfers favorite tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
Well yesterday wave height on the Outer reefs had dropped right back into the 1-2ft+ range and with a strong off shore wind on it wasn’t looking to attractive. So we just opted for a lazy high tide paddle down on the beach breaks of Legian.
This mornings 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing positive signs of a new and still building swell. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was already up into the 3-5ft range with the tide still running out. Surfing conditions out there were a little blustery with a strong off shore SE Trade wind.
But even though RipCurl had decided to exclude Bali’s biggest traffic website (baliwaves) as media partners (how ever their press release’s and sms alerts never stopped coming through to us) we still decided that you lot would like to have a close up look at the running of this years Padang Padang Cup. The contest kicked off at 9.30AM with wave height still a little in consistent (up to 25 minute waits for the sets) in the double to double head high plus class.
We hung around for a couple of hours and I gave the shooting honors over to Ketut before we snuck off down to see what Uluwatu was doing. Ulu had some solid set waves in the 3 to 4 times over head class and some long and gutsy rides going down. But like Padang Padang (at the time) still wasn’t showing it’s best colors.
I took another look at the Outer Reefs around 2.30PM and with the tide starting to run out again was looking a lot bigger than this morning and I’m sure Padang Padang would be turning it on for the final rounds.
Weather wise today it’s been a mainly hot and sunny one here on the holiday island with a few clouds driften past. Currently right now at 4.00PM the outside temperature is sitting on a warm 27 degree’s Celsius with the humidity on 70%. Wind direction is coming out of the East at 35kmh.
Today’s G-Land surf report thanks to the G-Land Surf Camp was calling solid waves in the double to triple head high class. Dave the camp photographer was gearing up to shoot out of the boat so hopefully later tonight he’ll be emailing us a fresh batch of G-Land magic.
Ok folks I’m putting down the tools for the rest of the day, but I have managed to load up a quick photo gallery of G-Land that was delivered to us from the ever famous G-Land Surf Camp. You’ll find those babies in side the G-Land Report page.
