The Real Kandui Surf Resort Mentawai Islands
Aug 6th surf report
The winds were forecast to be east this morning. It appeared that everyone made plans for that and motored their boats off to other spots, but just before dawn a storm came through and blew the wind out of the west and we were immediately in the dingy and heading for Rifles! It wasn’t as big as yesterday, but it was super clean and there were still some nice sets coming through. And, best of all, we had it all to ourselves! It seemed like the planet just wanted to give us a gift, because a couple of hours later there were boats showing up, the wind went cross shore, and the swell fell off the map! We got the best of it for sure and felt pretty good about our luck heading back for a late breakfast.
We have a new group coming in tomorrow. They come every year and have scored the biggest swell of the season for the last 2 years running. We have a good sized storm spinning below us right now so maybe they will keep their streak alive!
