BALI
28th – 29th December 2012
Hi folks and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves ( the original Bali surf report since 1999) for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions plus a bit of a scenic tour from right here on only place for your next tropical surfing holiday, BALI.
Ok well yesterday the 28th and we took on the highway West and a last ditch effort to find some surf at Balian. Seeing as though even Uluwatu was pretty well flat and with a mainly West swell the East coast couldn’t have been much different, we were still hoping to find something to surf up the coast.
Leaving home at 4.45AM and arriving at 6.40AM to find a totally empty line up and a very humble waist to chest high wave hitting the peak and splitting left and right. This doesn’t sound to bad hey, but Balian at the best of time is a pretty fat wave. So a waist to chest high wave and an incoming tide here doesn’t have to much kick in it. But still there was a few waves to be had. The crowd by the end of our time there was hitting 25 on the peak. I did take my 1000mm lens but didn’t even bother getting her outta the box.
Today the 29th and wave height here on the Outer Reefs was ankle high while the tide was still out and totally flat by late morning on the higher end of the tide. So we took a day off hoping that we might find something surfable tomorrow. Surfing conditions were pretty well perfect along Bali’s West Coast, early morning we had a light NNW breeze and sometime around midday she swung back around to the SE and straight off shore between Kuta and Uluwatu.
Weather wise it’s been a real beauty with nothing but blue sky from sun up till just before sun down when the big black clouds started rolling in outta the North from over the mountains. At 6.00PM the outside temperature was still sitting on 30 degree’s Celsius and the wind coming outta the SE at 6-9knot. But now at 7.00PM the thunder and lightning has just kicked in and the rain starting to flow here in Tuban.
Changing dollars to Rupiah here on the streets of Tuban; check photo No.28.
Ketut went for a walk with the camera and snapped off this gallery between Tuban and Kuta beach around 11.00AM.
